Task 3 - Evaluation

At the beginning of the project, I was stuck on what I wanted to create for my concept art however with suggestions from lecturers and classmates, I was able to come up with this idea and as I researched further on other people's style, I was finally about to come up with this idea. My theme represents nature in a fantasy style.

I feel that I have spent quite a lot of time on one specific object because I was trying to find the perfect color and effect to make it look the way I want however this method would help me expand my work in the future as well as saving me more time as I know what each brushes do and how to create the effects that I want.

I have used some of the google images as preference such as the squirrel and the sky to create my own style. I find it difficult at first however I managed to create it without any mistakes.

My weaknesses were trying to find the correct brushes and at parts I did do mistakes such as putting each object seperately on each different layer.

My strengths were that I was able to create this piece(drawing wise) without much struggle without tracing.

Overall, I am proud of the outcome of my concept art and would like to improve and develope more work pieces from photoshop.

Task 2 - Concept Art - Drawing Techniques.

I've searched up a variety of images related to the different types of flowers that I wanted to add on to my concept art, shown above is the one of the images  which inspired me to come up with the idea.

I've decided to use photo shop to test out my idea, firstly, with the background layer, I chose a dark navy blue color to represent the night sky. I created this using paint bucket and color pick to get the color that I want.

For my second layer, I renamed it clouds. I decided to add on a cloudy effect to make the sky look a bit more realistic. I begin with experimenting with different brushes, I selected the wet media brushes and picked a brush that creates this cloudy effect and then I went onto brush presets to create the scattering effect as well as the texture and smoothness of the brush(which is what I did for majority of the test pieces). I also adjusted the opacity to give it the blur effect.

Thirdly, I created another layer which I renamed as "fields", which then I went onto the special effect brushes to create this leave effect, I've use the same method as I did for the clouds with the opacity adjustment and brush presets to create this look.

Then, I created a blossom tree, with basic brush tools and by adjusting the opacity and effects once again, I've given it that smooth yet blur effect to match the piece. As for the random flower pattern on the bottom left, it was something I created to go with the other flowers I was about to do.

For this part, I've messed up the layers a bit, I've drawn on the layer which is for the moon. I've added in flowers as well and drawn on the wrong layer but by the time, I notice I've been drawing on the wrong layer, it was too late for me to change it so I carried on with the daisies and drawing the flowers in using a mouse and I used the same method for the entire art piece.

This piece shows the flower has been colored in from the image above this one and also I added in what appears to be fireflies using the pattern brush tool and resetting the scattering effect and the mode of the brush to luminosity so it gives out the glowing effect in the dark background.

Then I added on another layer for the two more flowers. I've used the basic brush took and picked the blur effect brush which is good for blending in colors also by adjusting the opacity, it gives me the glow effect as well as the texture of the flowers and shadows. It did take me a while to get the right colors but eventually I managed to finished both of the flowers with the colors that I wanted.

And finally, I added on a bush and a squirrel, I've used the same method as I did for the flowers with the squirrel.

Overall, I think my experimentation with the different brushes definitely helped me to achieve the effects that I wanted for this piece, however I did take longer than I expected as I wasn't sure what I wanted to do for the first few weeks but I manage to finally make this piece without much struggle.

I chose to use a mouse over tablet because I wanted to try a different method as I always use to use the tablet but now that I've gotten use to using the mouse, it is actually not as difficult as I thought it was. In the future, I would like to improve on my skills with photo shop and to manage my time more efficiently.

I've manage to draw 2 sketches because I've spent a bit longer than expected for each of the images. I've made errors in some proportions and would like to improve more on my life drawing. 

my strengths are drawings objects or clothing however my weaknesses are drawing hands and face shapes and keeping everything in proportion.

Parts that I did for my lighthouse. - Task 3

I've place everything at the centre, then I've went into duplicate special to create the balcony for the lighthouse. The first image shows what I've did for the rotation measurements to create the balcony.

I started of researching images on different types of flowers and getting some ideas on what flowers I want in my own concept art. The first image shown is what I've been working on by far on photoshop. I've created layers for each part; The background of the sky, the grass, clouds, moon and the different types of flowers as well as some light effects. I've experimented with different brush tools to create and blend the colours/effects as well as using different sizes of the brush.

These two images below the first image is what inspired me to come up with my idea shown in the first image with the whole effect of the dots scattered across the flowers and the sky with the clouds blending in set in a night time view.

Project Review - 3d Enviorment -Task 2

We have decided to change our project as it started to get a bit too complicated with doing certain prop’s and some of it was taking too long to make, but we have changed our plan to something a bit more simple, Which is a island with just a dock on it, with a light house and a small house, also with a boat.

My theme is going to based around a theatre that has been abandoned and is set modern day, It is also going to be based around making a map for a game called counter strike, and my plan is to research in to what makes a good map and a bad map as well so I can try to balance it as if this map was...

Planning. (3D modeling) - Task 2

Me - Making the objects for the rooms (chair’s, creates etc)

Cameron - going to do the layout/maping as in putting the walls in floors etc then Cameron will help me out with finishing some of the objects to speed up the process

Both going to do the texturing but going to try texture the objects as we go along and texture the walls and that after doing the layout

Week 1 - Reaserch and make a map plan

Week 2 - Start to make a layout of the map and doing tiny bit more research

Week 3 - production of the map it started (Cameron will be doing the Map layout, I will fous on making the Objects)

Week 5 - Cameron will have map lay out sorted, and be ready for texturing then will be helping me with object’s (texture some that I have not done, if thats not the case then Cameron will help by making objects that  has not done yet)

Week 7 - Import the objects in to the map and place them (Cameron)

week 10 - Texturing and doing some finishing touches  ( both )

Concept art is a form of illustration used to present out ideas used for comics,video games, animation and films before it is finalised. Concept art is also referred to as a visual development or concept design.
