@alex_elle’s work is so inspiring. I personally find the quotes and mantras that she writes to be very real and comforting; I even have one of her quotes as my phone background that says “I am capable of loving myself in the ways that I want others to love me.” As we’re going into the last week of #MHAM18, it’s important to remember the importance of self-love and self compassion. (at Washington, District of Columbia)
“It’s OK and even healthy to have a ‘pity party’ from time to time. Heck go buy some balloons for it! It gets bad when you stay in it. Do something nice for yourself” ~C.N. @thedailymigraine #day6 #MHAM18 (at Wesleyan University)
#day5 of #MHAM18 is dedicated to food allergies/triggers! My allergies are to gluten, soy, and tyramine, which is found in anything aged and fermented (like red wine + aged cheese). Some studies report that between 20-44% of migraine sufferers point to certain foods as triggers for migraines, with some of the most common being cheese, citrus fruits, MSG, aspartame, cured meats, caffeine, dairy, and nuts. Triggers are individual to every migraineur, so don’t expect every person with migraines to have food triggers! To better track your own triggers, it’s good to keep a migraine journal either on paper or using an app like @migraine.buddy to see if you can identify if what you are led to a migraine. Thanks @migraine_hu for the statistics and facts! (at Le Parloir)
Thankful for the days I can be active and functional. More than 90% of sufferers are unable to work or function normally during their migraine. #day2 #MHAM18 (at Malibu, California)
Get excited for #day1 of #MHAM18! For #migraine and #headache awareness month, I will be posting every day to raise awareness about migraine and living with migraine. Did you know that migraine is the 3rd most prevalent illness in the world and the 6th most disabling illness in the world? @amfmigraine
