The scene at the end of the film with Ethan giving Benji the key before they drive off while the voiceover of 'the closer you are to someone the harder it is to keep them alive' and 'should any member of your team be caught or killed' while the camera focuses on Benji is making me think so many things and I am scared. The AI focusing on Benji's last name in general with the phrase 'you are Dunn' coming into play during pivotal scenes, the fact Ethan was tricked with Benji's voice while going after Gabriel and the look on his face when coming to realize it wasn't Benji talking to him before that phrase is spoken again, the emphasis on the two of them during that ending voiceover, him entrusting Benji to hold onto the key. This had all better not be foreshadowing anything in the next film. Specifically that ending.
if you aren’t an m:i fan at this point idk what to tell you

I loved Ilsa in Dead Reckoning Part One. I've always loved her character but her arc in this movie makes me feel Emotions.
for the entire series since we were introduced to her, we've always seen her wanting out of the game. she tries to run, tries to cut out that part of her life, and she always fails, pulled back for a reason or another.
she was always looking out for herself, going it alone, and only teaming up with Team Hunt when their goals align. but she's grown from that. we see her willingly joining the team this time, instead of doing her own thing until she's forced to confront them. we see her interacting with the team, with Ethan, beyond what's needed for the mission at hand.
we see her make a conscious choice to go save a woman she didn't know at the risk of her own life, a decision she never would've made when we met her in Rogue Nation.
and it's only her compassion and decision in this moment that finally turned Grace around. Grace joined Team Hunt bc she felt indebted to Ilsa, bc she realized that instead of running away, like she expected her to, like she herself was trying so desperately to do, Ilsa came back. for her.
she doesn't know how to feel about that, but she does know she'll do her best to help the friends of the woman who saved her life.
just!!! it's so well-written, and aches in a good way, the same way Oblivion makes me ache. an ending that's the culmination of her character, an essential part of the story, and a self sacrifice that shows her growth. I'm sad about it but at the same time I love it so much. what a way to go.
it's about the THEMES. it's about never being free. it's about making the choice to save lives and spare lives. it's about Ethan saving Briggs' life and having Briggs spare his life later. it's about Ethan sparing Paris and having her save him and Grace later. it's about Ilsa making the decision to save Grace instead of running away. it's about Ilsa saving her being the thing that changes Grace, making her want to be better. it's about Ethan immediately figuring out that the voice in the comms isn't Benji, never even entertaining the thought that Benji might have betrayed him. it's about Benji rushing off to find Ethan as soon as he thinks Ethan might be in danger. it's about Ethan's shocked and sad face when Luther says he's leaving. it's about Luther reassuring him that he'll come back. it's about friendship it's about family it's about trust it's about love.
