No Closure - Celine and Rumi
Patreon | Instagram
At first Celine was the one who done maintenance around there home during her sunlight days, while Mi Yeong and thirdlight handle the garden but after Rumi birth it was up to her to maintain the garden. She did not have a green thumb in the slightest for a while and she constantly muttered in french about how hard the garden is, Rumi of course picks up the french language growing up and during her childhood gave Celine her arts and crafts as presents. One of them is a garden decoration with french spelling of Celine favourite phrase while gardening. Of course to this day it still stands front and centre in the garden.
Zoey: what does this decoration say?
Mira: I don’t know let me look it up
Mira: its says grow dammit
One thing I feel like I don't see enough of in time travel/resurrection fics is Rumi being angry and resentful at Mi-Yeong. There are typically a lot of emotions but not nearly enough anger.
Mi-Yeong having a demon lover and choosing to have Rumi regardless is the reason Rumi is a "monster", "abomination", a "violation of nature", or whatever else she has learned to see herself as. And moreover, it is VERY easy for a child to see a parent's death as abandonment and internalize that they weren't worth sticking around for. For Rumi, it would be pretty easy to feel like Mi-Yeong screwed her over and just dipped instead of sticking around to love her and convince her that she wasn't a mistake.
But I think another interesting reason for Rumi to be mad at Mi-Yeong and resent her that I definitely don't see much is how much Mi-Yeong hurt Celine through her decisions.
If Celine is as in love with her as the rest of the fandom thinks, Celine would likely romanticize Mi-Yeong's memory the further she gets away from her death. Celine remembers the good things and maybe even a bit of guilt for her own actions. But Rumi? She had to grow up with a woman who became hard because of mistakes that Mi-Yeong made and had to watch Celine single handedly protect/strengthen the Honmoon, fight demons, run a record company, and be a single mom. And Rumi had to see how much that damaged Celine.
If there's more time travel or spontaneous resurrection fics in the future, once I would like to see Rumi lay into Mi-Yeong for how much she hurt the only mother Rumi truly had
Obviously I literally just posted the poll but the idea of Rumi being an affair baby is really really getting to me.
Like Celine and Mi-yeong are barely anything but they’re Something. They’ve been in a weird ‘we’re dating but never talk about it with each other because we can’t ever be out, so what’s the point’ kinda situation for a long time and for most of it they’re happy.
But Mi-Yeong meets a guy and it’s kinda nice to be out with him, you know? They’re just friends, plus there’s so many rumors about the Sunlignt Sisters that the label is actually pushing her to be seen with him. She tells Celine it’s totally fine, they aren’t doing anything, it’s just for show.
Only for Mi-Yeong to get pregnant with Rumi, which obviously destroys Celine. THEN Mi-Yeong dies, leaving Rumi to only have Celine because her father left and the third Sunlight Sister wouldn’t take in a half demon.
And like. Celine can’t even be mad at Mi-Yeong because she’s dead. She can’t be mad at Rumi— she’s just a baby and is already going to be dealing with so much. She can’t even really tell anyone who exactly Rumi is to her (the daughter of her lover who could have been her actual daughter if things had been different) because no one else knew that she and Mi-Yeong were together.
I have no doubt that Celine would take that shit the grave. Rumi has NO idea and that’s how Celine wants to keep it. There is no point in tarnishing Mi-Yeong’s memory like that and Celine’s own self worth is probably so low that she tells herself it’s relatively minor in the grand scheme of things. She pushes the entire thing into the back of mind and only speaks positively about her, enough that she over corrects and puts her on a pedestal
I love Celine being gay for Mi-yeong, but I raise you aspec Celine who has no idea she's part of a polycule (yes this is about my fic Demon Rearing again)
They respect the hell outta Celine's boundaries so she's like, "Yeah we're totally just friends," but also she has kissed both of them on the mouth of her own free will multiple times, responds to pet names, gladly lets them call her 'girlfriend', and is definitely in love with them in her own way.
But like it's totally not gay, right Celine? Right.
Introverts making friends.
AU - Celine is a loup-garou (a French werewolf) which she inherited from her family but kept a secret from Sunlight Sisters to avoid being kicked out of or hunted by the group. One night, after a concert, Mi Yeong and the third sister witness Celine’s first transformation only for them to be the first people she’s ever recognized as a wolf.
Also add on - When Mi Yeong gives birth during a full moon, Celine fears she’ll hurt the baby only for her to actually protect the child against the Sunlight Sisters mentors who want to take the baby.
Celine never knows why she’s the one who survives.
Celine wonders if she was created to be some sort of harbinger or omen. A warning to say, be careful, tragedy happened here.
She was a twin, not that many knew. She was a fraternal twin to a boy who had her long face and black eyes but she remembers he always laughed more than her. Then again laughter was easy when you weren’t alone.
She ended up alone. A car accident when she was twelve. She was stuck in the car for hours afterwards crying for her brother. The only person who made everything okay. She never got a response.
Celine was twelve in the orphanage but wasn’t there long. The hunters found her. The ancient organization gave her a place and it wasn’t a home and she didn’t want it to be. She wanted to be busy. To do something important to explain why she’d been the only one in that car to wake up.
Eventually came Tae-hee and oh, she sparkled like a firecracker and fought like there was a tornado tied to her feet.
Then came Mi-Yeong and if Tae-hee was sparking well, she shined.
Celine wasn’t really magical, not comparatively. She didn’t shine or sparkle under the stage lights. She didn’t wield the Honmoon with the ‘deftest touch any of us have ever seen’. She didn’t need to though. She was part of a set. Three bound in a bushel. She was the one who was steady. The one that figuratively and literally covered their asses. The one who made things a little easier. That was enough.
Then things fell apart because grief brushes her shoulder like a shadow, like a cape. Because death chose her for a cruel game.
Celine stands before the council of hunters. Honmoon blade in one hand and regular steel in the other and thinks.
Why am I the one who lived? Why am I the only one able to accept what now is?
Mi-Yeong would have died for any of them. In the end she died for a crying babe that everyone else said was a demon. An abomination. It looked like a baby to Celine.
She was already injured and broken and exhausted but Celine was a survivor, not because she wanted to be but because she was presented no other option.
So she wiped the blood from her nose, spat it out of her mouth and said, cold as a gravestone.
“Let’s get this over with.”
That night Celine became the last hunter and a guardian to something the world had never seen.
Mi-yeong, as constant as the North Star, would have been a better mom. Tae-Hee, so bright and vibrant there was nothing in nature she could compare it to, would have been a better aunt. Rumi didn’t get either of them.
Zoey and Mira deserved a mentor who wasn’t drowning in guilt and blood. One who was able to say the right thing about parents. Zoey would have loved songwriting with Mi-yeong. Mira and Tae-hee would have danced together for hours.
They didn’t get that but they had each other and Celine prayed she’d had her fill of tragedies. That she wasn’t going to outlive her family a third time.
By the grace of the Honmoon. Please. Let her be the next one who goes next.
