NEW • Domhnall on costume designer Michael Kaplan and working on Star Wars:
"Michael did an amazing job. It absolutely feels like Star Wars. You immediately recognize the world, but it's also slightly different than what they did before. Hux had to carry an aura of power and a preoccupation of being in charge of things. The clothes corrected my posture, so it was brilliant and hilarious to put them on every morning." The tangible nature of the costumes, sets, and props were additional tools that enabled Gleeson to bring truth to his portrayal. "I was able to reach out and touch everything. Everything was right in front of you, which just makes acting so much easier. For me, just walking around and seeing all that stuff and putting my hands on it, and it being tactile and present, it was the stuff you’d imagined when you were a kid. I know how lucky I was to be on sets like that. It was large-scale filmmaking that felt like a real story and not just effects. There was a real energy in the performances. This was Star Wars and that required a step up."
