1/24/22.
Not sure how this found its way to me. I was just listening to The Three O'Clock "Arrive Without Traveling" the other day, and this immediately made me think of a lo-fi version of The Three O'Clock. The vocals are definitely Quercio-ish.
Heart Shaped are a Belfast, UK band, that don't really make me think of Belfast at all. Perhaps that is because, according to Bandcamp, Kendall Bousquet was "Texas bred".
Great guitar noodling (reminiscent of Sidearm), and the lo-fi vocals and sound can bring up any number of comparisons. This is self-released by the band.

Pre-Order Scott Miller I Love You All!
Hey paisley fans!! If y’all remember, Scott Miller was working on a new Game Theory record when he passed away unexpectedly in 2013. It would’ve been the first in 20 years. Scott Miller - I Love You All is a project to finish the record, with contributions a lot of Scott’s collaborators and friends. Former members of his bands Game Theory and The Loud Family as well as other players from the paisley underground scene like The Three O’Clock’s Michael Quercio, plus incredible musicians who were admirers of Scott’s work, like Aimee Mann and Peter Buck!
They’re taking pre-orders through the link, trying to offset recording costs, and all the proceeds from the album will go straight to putting his daughters through college and supporting his family.
The Three O’Clock - In Love in Too (1983)
For some reason I was thinking about this band lately - I must have seen them at least 10-15 times. You might label them lite-pop psych, but live they were an incredible band. (After guitarist Louis left they lost some of their intensity) Plus, they always did great covers (Lucifer Sam, Sorry, and My Friend Jack come to mind). This particular song was from a fan club only single. Michael Quercio’s vocals were an acquired taste but there was no denying his pop smarts.
Found this beauty at Academy LPs in the East Village!
