I don't know how I feel about the Michael Tait situation.
First of all I haven't followed Newsboys after Furler left. It was never the same after that. And DC Talk was mostly before my time and I didn't get into them until later. So I had never heard any of this about Tait even though it's apparently been known for some time.
However, I'm already seeing copycats trying to spring up. People are already trying to start a Trophy Hunt against other Christian artists.
Someone just tried to post an allegation article against Bear Rinehart of Needtobreathe which is especially disappointing to me because they're the only mainstream Christian band that I actually like. I model my singing voice after him.
On one hand, seeing this kind of immature behavior try to infiltrate the CCM circle is the last thing I ever wanted to see. I hoped we were better than this.
On the other hand, CCM desperately needs reform. This is the driving force and mission statement behind why I made Worship REWIND.
But it needed to happen by the artists examining themselves and re-evaluating why they're in the industry, and whether they're really listening to what God wants them to do and write about. Not making safe money-minded slop that all sounds the same.
It shouldn't have to be by a hoard of power hungry lunatics hoping to get a bite of clout by digging up any dirt they can find on popular artists.

A former Newsboys, and DC Talk member Michael Tait just got busted for inappropriate sexual contact, grooming, allegations, and drug use. The band has denounced him and stood with the victims, as they should. 
I hope that everyone reading and rebloging this understands that the point of this is that sexual predators are bad—regardless of where they hide. I hope everyone reading this is just as vigilant about sexual predation, and things like that outside of religious circumstances. I mean, I am not a Christian. I will say it is pretty weird though, hearing about this band again because they were one of those buzzed about Christian rock groups that I tried to find interesting back around 2005 to 2010 when I was a born again Christian.
As an ex- Christian and current Muslim, I’m cackling a little bit, but the one aspect of the story that really upsets me is he was grooming and hooking up with college age guys, and then threatening to expose them if they said anything about what he did with them, and using homophobia and religious exile as ways to control his victims. This is extremely disturbing, creepy and evil. No religion can make you a good person if you don’t wanna be and anything that can give people power over others will always be abused, but it just makes me a little sad for how many other horrible predators and manipulators and scammers are probably in the same industry, hoping they don’t get exposed next. I hope they all get exposed. 
Also, the headline referring to Michael as a former member is a little bit misleading. He stepped down as their lead singer without any explanation in January, which probably means that the rest of this band, which is standing by the victims now knew about what he was doing, and that is the reason why he stepped down. They were probably intending to cover up his sexual predation, and they only needed to own up to it a few days ago this June, when reports of what Michael did while in the band became public knowledge. This is how sexual predators get away with it for so long.

As much as I joke around about Michael Tait being not straight and in love with his bandmates, it's all hyperbolic and just for fun. I actually think it's more likely he's on the aromantic spectrum. From what we know he's never had a girlfriend in his life and he claims it's not his choice to be single he just hasn't found the "right one" yet. He claims until then he's married to the word of God and it's been that way for a LONG and I think at the very least this guy is content with being single. Idk he sounds like an aromantic Christian who doesn't know being aromantic is a thing
