Finally had time to draw again, so in light of the upcoming spooky season here's one of my favorite spiders. This is Micrathena gracilis, the castleback orbweaver! They show up around the start of fall around here. 🕷️
[ID copied from alt: A digital painting of a spider directly facing the viewer in a realistic style. Its head and legs are dark brown, while its abdomen is white, with black spots and spikes coming off of it symmetrically. The background is olive green, and shiny silk strands can be seen behind the spider. End ID.]
FINALLY drew Micrathena
I’m not that proud of this drawing tbh since I lost motivation halfway through but I still think she looks good!
She doesn’t have any backstory really
I can’t decide if I want her to work in one of the hives or not…I’ll think on it though
I forgot to add, she has lots of energy as well but I was too lazy too add it onto the drawing
I’m gonna have to simplify her design sometimes bc drawing her scales was a PAIN

Arrow-shaped micrathena (Micrathena sagittata). One of my favorite local spiders, and only the third one I've ever found. The first one was in too shady a spot to get good pics, and the second I didn't have my macro lens with me.
Spined Micrathena, Micrathena gracilis
Happy Valentines to my love @elenacanessa with this ❤️-shaped spider (Micrathena clypeata)! Every day is a good day to share some love and some spiders too! #valentines #valentineday #spider #micrathena #love #heart #spidersofinstagram #macro #macrophotography @ilcp_photographers (presso Los Amigos Biological Station) https://www.instagram.com/p/CLRK5IHgtMm/?igshid=uhwtqz7xzw0o
