DILEMMA ! m.list
part 2, part 3
662 wc, cheater!kawa, crappykawa, unhealthy relationship, iwa being sweet
i’m aware that oikawa is very mischaracterized in this oneshot, and i want to emphasize that it’s on purpose, so take it with a grain of salt!!!
being tooru oikawa’s girlfriend wasn’t for the weak.
definitely not some paradise like the girls daydreamed and gushed about. he was sweet and all, always opening doors for you before you entered a room, handing you his jacket if you were cold, winking at you every time he was about to serve. the problem was, he did that to every girl.
the fangirls gave him presents, cards, and asked for pictures, and he drowned in all of the attention. when they greeted him with their fake honeyed voices, he greeted back and winked at them. at first you told yourself it was just a façade for the fans, nothing more. but the more you were forced to watch, the sicker you felt.
you were his girlfriend, his official girlfriend. so why was he lending his jacket to another girl when the temperature wasn’t even that cold?
you decided to confront him about it. after all, communication was supposed to be key in a relationship, right?
you tried so hard to hold in your tears as he coldly explained that none of it meant anything to him. he reassured you, but distantly, in a way that still left whispers of doubt. if it didn’t mean anything to him, then why did it mean so much to you? why did your heart ache every time you saw him giving more of himself to his fans than to you, his so-called “love of his life”?
his hands wrapped around you now, embracing you in his warmth. the same hands that had been caressing another girl’s hair just hours ago. you sniffled, anxiety clinging tighter to you than his arms ever could.
two weeks passed since that talk, and nothing had changed. of course. he was still surrounded by his fans, and he gave you less and less of his time. no more cheek-kisses in greeting, no more sweet nicknames like honey or baby, no more late-night video calls. just excuses like, “i’m tired,” or “i’m busy.”
today was like every other day. you, tooru, and iwaizumi sat in class while his loyal fangirls berated him as usual. iwaizumi was bent over his math assignment, and you were retouching your makeup when you caught sight of one of the girls sitting far too close to your boyfriend. you made a face, a face you wore so often these days your eyebrows hurt from how much they were always creased.
“you’re gonna let that happen?” iwaizumi nudged your arm, nodding toward the scene.
you shrugged him off. “i’m used to it by now,” you muttered, reapplying your liptint. but your hand was trembling, and the color smeared past your lips. you reached for a tissue to wipe it off, but someone beat you to it.
a warm, tanned hand gently brushed the tint from your chin. “why are you shaking so much? are you cold?” hajime asked. before you could reply, he was already shrugging off his hoodie and handing it to you. you stared at him, stunned.
you had known hajime before tooru, back when you shared a homeroom. you grew close in your second year, and that was when he introduced you to your now-boyfriend. but it was at this moment that you realized hajime has always noticed the little things. not even just about you but about everything.
he noticed when people needed something before they even asked. like when makki had been sneezing nonstop, hajime had already pulled out a tissue packet from his pocket before anyone else thought to. he noticed when someone was upset, when they weren’t acting like themselves. and he actually cared enough to do something about it.
it was sweet. it was different. quite the opposite of tooru. when tooru wasn’t there, hajime always was.
your heart began to pound in your chest, faster and louder than it ever did with tooru. being this close to hajime made you nervous in a way that terrified you.
oh, no.
