"Do you ever wish we could turn into bats?" Paul asks. He lazily blows smoke towards the ceiling, licking his dry lips.
David hums, eyes closed and head leaned back against Dwayne, listening to the quiet flipping of pages. Dostoyevsky was weighty.
"Some vampires can turn into bats," he reminds his packmate.
"Well, yeah, but do you wanna?" Paul asks more pointedly. "I think. It could be cool. Like you fly around everywhere, freak people out."
"You can already do both those things," Dwayne adds in.
Paul blinks and the revelation sinks in.
"Oh yeah!" He laughs, sluggishly turning over to rest his head on Dwayne's other shoulder. "But it would be cool to have wings."
"You'd have to flap your arms super fast," Marko chimes in. But Paul shakes his head.
"Not if I was like, like a dragon, like a vampire bat dragon, with six arms and legs and stuff."
David peeks open an eye. "Well then you'd be a dragon, not a bat."
Paul's face falls. "Oh yeah."
Silence reigns in the cave.
"Do you think there's vampires who can turn into dragons?"
