This zine is in our $1 Zines section! Estrus Comics #3!
A small comic on the subject of 'large topics', such as death, happiness, creation, and things of that nature. All topics tackled in cute way that makes this an easy read. Adorable drawings, adorable approaches to larger-than-life ideas, and all encapsulated in the phrase "delusions of grandeur", the subtitle of this issue. Order here from Pioneers Press (ex Microcosm Distribution)
We have copies of Firewood #1!
Reading about "building your own house, growing your own food, making your own music, art culture, life" will make you feel ready to join the revolution before you even get past the intro. Firewood isn't just about talk though. Sine offers serious real-life help in here. There is a large article on how to build your own cabin. With information on how to physically do it, even all by yourself, there is also help on salvaging materials, obtaining cheap materials and building houses of wood, straw-bale, cob, Tipis and Gers. Also, you can read about growing your own Anarchist Victory Garden and get a little lesson on Land Ownership in Scotland. In general, a really inspiring and helpful zine. Order here from Pioneers Press (formerly known as Microcosm Distribution)

FAUX PHO
BY DAVIDA GYPSY BREIER
This soup is excellent for battling colds or heating you from the inside on a cold winter’s day. The cheapest place to find ingredients is your local Asian market or farmers market. Also, once you have many of your base ingredients, you will have enough left over for many bowls of soup.
Ingredients:
2 cups of water
GF vegetarian bouillon (enough for 2 cups of water)
2 scallions
Spinach—if fresh a small handful, if frozen about 1/3 cup
2 oz tofu (I generally use a smoked tofu for the added flavor)
Small handful of medium rice noodles (pad Thai sized)*
¼ cup shelled, frozen edamame
1 tsp ground ginger (fresh not powdered)
¼ cup bean sprouts
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp Sriracha sauce
1 tsp GF tamari sauce
Directions:
Add two cups of water and the bouillon to a saucepan. While it heats, chop the scallions and add to the saucepan. Add the edamame and ginger to the saucepan. Chop the tofu and cilantro and add. If you are using frozen spinach add now. If you are using fresh add it to the bowl you are using for your soup. Add the rice noodles and simmer for 3-5 minutes (until the noodles are tender). In the soup bowl, put the bean sprouts on the bottom. Pour the soup over them. Now add the lemon juice, Sriracha, and tamari. Enjoy!
This recipe is extremely versatile. About the only ingredient that is required is the broth. From there you can adapt to your own tastes. Have some mushrooms on hand you want to use? By all means, throw them in. Hate edamame (sacrilege!)? Feel free to shun them. Sriracha your idea of fast death? Omit it.
*A word about rice noodles. The health food store will be happy to charge you $4 for a box of fancy-assed rice noodles, but the Asian market is your best source. They will have more types than you can fit in your cart—often for about $1 a package. If you want something like a chicken noodle soup, go for the wide flat noodles. You can also use the thin vermicelli rice noodles, but adjust the cooking time. In fact, you can just add them to the bowl and pour the soup over them and allow them to sit a few minutes to soften.

Dear tumblr friends and those not connected to tumblr,
If you want to buy your Slingshot planner this year from four nice folks who run a distro/publishing house that used to be called "Microcosm Distribution" and is now "Pioneers Press" and is shootin' hard for a good 2013 removed of all-things toxic, you can do that here.
