In MiXeR, the fusion of uppercase and lowercase letters makes for an alphabet alien yet highly readable.

Designer #Zengqi Guo states, "All letter cases should have the same right of speaking in the same volume without losing the characteristic of each individual because differences are allowed to exist."

The intertwined structure that is produced from this concept speaks with a newly harmonious form, as simultaneously its formal qualities become a visual manifesto of a #post-human future.

This elegant type specimen includes a text about MiXeR's origins, as well as the full text of Guo's "MiddleCase Manifesto" (a work that was exhibited at the 2021 #RISD Graphic Design Triennial).

Is there such a thing as middlecase letters?

What if I want to express a higher volume of my voice, but not bellowy enough to warrant CAPS, or important enough to warrant italics, or serious enough for bold to be used.

None of the vibes are right! I need middlecase letters, even if they break the laws of reality!

my version of Middlecase

ok so i reblogged a post about middlecase some time ago. here’s what two-years-ago me made up

basically, it mashes both upper and lower cases into one letter. my handwriting is kinda bad here, but hopefully you can see what i’m getting at

Uppercase, Lowercase, & Middlecase

There's now three types of writing, uppercase, lowercase, and... Middlecase. See lowercase has a nice and casual feel to it. EX: "Hello George, would you like to buy a candle?" Uppercase has caps and is supposed to sound like shouting. EX: "GEORGE IF YOU DON'T BUY MY FUCKING CANDLE I AM GOING TO SET YOUR HOUSE ON FIRE." Now middlecase is a new thing that came from tumblr users typing too quickly. It is pretty much chaotic and relates to fandoms often. Consequently, there is grammatical errors EX: "oMFG WHAT tHE FUCK gEORGE IM. GOING tO GET A hUNGARIAN HORNTAIL oN YOURR ASS." Spread Awareness
