So I’ve been thinking about this, and I have to say that of all the people who’ve been really, really constant in encouraging me in my writing, @midgardiannerd is definitely one of them. I feel I don’t really appreciate her enough, but the truth is, before she came along, I was used to basically having no commenters on my fics on AO3. Or at least very few commenters. (I still have very few comments and kudos, which is admittedly a bit discouraging because it is like...what am I doing wrong? But I think it’s because Darkpilot is a very niche ship, and it’s not like Reylo or Kylux which have all but taken on a life of their own in the fandom. Or hell, FinnPoe -- I am not referring to it as Stormpilot because I prefer not to get in trouble -- or Poe/Finn/Rey, and even stuff like Reyux and Finnlo isn’t as niche as Darkpilot. But nonetheless, writing for Darkpilot...I wouldn’t have it any other way) In a way, ever since I posted that one extended slightly smutty scene for my Ben Solo fic “The Broken Edge”, she’s been my constant audience. She’s told me -- enthusiastically at that; one benefit of having @midgardiannerd as a commenter is how enthusiastic and kind she really is -- when things have worked, and she’s been gentle when she’s told me when things don’t make sense (usually in like private messages and such). I’m glad I reached out to her on Tumblr when I did, because...she is my friend now. We’ve traded moodboards, fics...and even though I have enough issues to make Freud horrified, she’s always been there for me.
So here’s to you, @midgardiannerd. You are made of awesome. :3 (And as a bonus point, you’re a phenomenal writer. You have an infinite amount of potential in you, and honestly? I predict you’re going to go on to do great things. You really are)
