hey did you know that in legends mon’s mother was also an influential (and likely progressive) politician. and did you know that if you choose to blend this with andor canon it makes everything literally fifty billion times worse. they really said yeah the mother daughter cycles? we’ll do that again. politician selling her daughter into an arranged marriage despite her own experience with chandrilan society? do it again. daughters rebelling against their mothers but actually following their mother’s path in the end? again!!! i need to walk into the ocean!!!!!!!!!

after about 6 hours of youtube trawling and editing, the season 1 andor vine compilation is complete… enjoy!

it has been 666 days since andor and i’m becoming evil.

forgive the muddled thoughts here, but at least monthly my andor brain will return to chandrila and trying to reconcile the absolute clusterfuck of information we have surrounding it in the show vs legends material. i do see the interpretation from the show that chandrila is culturally conservative across the board, though with a waning of some of their traditions (arranged marriages) on the planet itself and a definite class/status dimension to who is most subject to social norms. but oh my god some of the legends stuff EATS me. it’s so dissonant with canon and i LOVE that!!! a planet with a long history of outspoken liberal and environmental politics that considers itself forward-thinking but retains CHILD MARRIAGE. a planet with widespread anti-imperial sentiment but in such a reserved, pretentious all-words-no-action way that the empire doesn’t consider them a threat. a planet that is rich and well educated and so so deeply hypocritical. the planet that made mon mothma. do you see it. do you see it.

i sincerely do enjoy the general fanon read of mon’s serene, smiling facade — but sometimes i do find it amusing that 3 (or even all 4) of her first onscreen appearances in andor are her arguing with people. all i’m saying is i think there’s a market out there for mon being a bit catty.

stares mournfully out of the window and sighs. i think mon mothma would be a fan of reed diffusers. you know those really fancy ones that only seem to appear around holiday season when you need a sophisticated but impersonal gift for someone, and you discover scents you never even knew existed, let alone that you can pay however-many-dozens-of-dollars for a little glass jar? i bet the embassy smells fucking fabulous. when will andor season 2 return from war.
