Ochaco coughed roughly, holding her hand up to her mouth as more petals spilled out.
They caught in the mask she was wearing, and she leaned out the open window to let them fall. She watched them flutter to the ground before turning back to Tenya. Izuku had been out of class for days, so it was only the two of them huddled at Ochaco’s desk. She smiled as he looked at her, obviously worried.
“Why won’t you tell me who it’s over?” He asked, touching the top of her hand lightly. She shook her head aggressively.
“No. I want to talk to him about it first.” She turned back to stare out the window, a slight frown on her face. It was finally their third year, and of course she got a disease that could kill you. Of course. She thought she might never get to see her eighteenth birthday— Because she’d rather die than ever have her feelings for Izuku Midoriya removed. She quickly smiled again, turning to Tenya again as he cleared his throat.
“…Please do it soon. You know what can happen.”
“I plan to tonight! Don’t worry about it, Iida. I’m a big girl!” She laughed and poked his arm, the gloves on her hands preventing him from floating. He gave her one last worried look before they went back to talking about the training of the day, what class Ochaco really needed Tenya’s help in, and how Ochaco couldn’t wait to get to the dorms and nap. Tenya called her lazy. She called it a sleep appetizer. They got through the rest of their days, Ochaco leaving a trail of flower petals behind her wherever she went. She didn’t mean to, but she didn’t know where the extras were coming from. She got back to her dorm fine, though a big itchy. She pulled up the back of her uniform’s shirt and looked in the mirror— Screaming, after a moment.
She dropped her shirt back down and hastily tucked it into her skirt. She heard a quiet knock on the door and smacked her cheeks with two hands. She shuffled over to the door quickly and flung it open, smiling on instinct.
“…Just making sure you’re okay.” Jirou said, playing with her wire. Ochaco grinned.
“Just saw a spider. Thanks, Jirou!” She smiled and watched her go back to her room, seeing Momo’s head poking out of the door in question. Ochaco closed the door again. She leaned against the back of the door and slid down it slowly, a rather melodramatic movement that quite fit how she was feeling. She coughed roughly, letting the petals fall over her knees. The blossom of flowers on her back could have two meanings. Either the disease was progressing, getting worse, hurting more. Or, and she really hoped this was it, the boy she was in love with loved her back. The flowers on her back were a light pink, the same as what she had been coughing up all week. The flowers matched. She stood quickly, grabbing her phone from where she had thrown it on her bed and ran down the hall. She hit the elevator button a few times, jumping up and down a few times as she waited. She hit the button for his floor and waited, willing the elevator to move faster. She stumbled out of it and straight into Denki, almost knocking him over.
“Sorry!” She shouted, feeling the petals fly out of her mouth as she pushed past him. Denki laughed and called down the hall.
“No problem!” He said as she slammed het open hand on the door to the room she was after. She heard a muffled cough from within, with a call to come in. She entered the All Might shrined room and pointed at Izuku where he sat at his desk. She stared at the flowers around him, littering the floor and overflowing his trash can.
“Pink. Midoriya—“ She scrambled to pull up the back of her shirt again. He watched her start to pull it up and yelped, covering his eyes with his hands.
“Uraraka! Please!”
“Just look!” She shouted back, her back turned to him. She glanced over her shoulder to look at him and saw the recognition in his eyes.
“…Those are—“
“The flowers you’ve been vomiting? Yeah, I know!” Ochaco forced herself to cough onto her hand, holding it out to the forest-haired boy, “Me too.” She watched the petals fall to the ground, mixing in seamlessly with the ones Midoriya had been sick with. Midoriya stood and stared at her, then looked down and pulled up his sleeve. Ochaco practically ran over to him, grabbing his hand and pulling it closer to her as he showed her his flower-covered forearm. She ran her fingers over the flowers and looked at him, seeing that he was already looking at her. She laughed loudly and grabbed Izuku by the collar, pulling him down the few inches he was taller than her and kissing him quickly. They pulled away and she heard Izuku gasp for air, coughing roughly.
No petals. He was still sick from the effects of them, but he wouldn’t die. Ochaco grinned brightly at him as she took in her own deep breath. She pulled him to kiss him again, her hands on his shoulders as he held onto her biceps. She pulled away and looked at Izuku, eyes creased as she smiled.
“That solves that.”
