Near Little Pine State Park
Showshoed about 3.5 miles today, I think. Hiked out to Muddy Pond shelter. There was a already a young woman there who probably wanted enjoy the quiet view with her dog and meditate on how life changes, but then I showed up.
She was nice and tolerated me as I made some tea and noodles and ate my dinner. She didn't laugh while I totally struggled with changing my socks in the snow. So, nice company and minimally awkward.
With a young woman in a remote area, I'm like hyper-aware that she's probably evaluating me as a risk and I know that I can't help seeming a little off to people. But, I really wanted some hot tea and the shelter is the only good place to make it. Did my best to seem harmless.
Lesson learned about changing socks: take off one shoe and completely change and tie shoe back on before doing the other foot. That way there's always a leg to stand on.
Very slushy snow. Trail-head was all plowed in, but people in the house up the street let me park in their drive, so thankyous to them.
Hiking the MidState Trail and Mt Wachusett tomorrow :D
SO STOKED. I love living near MA.
