My Roommate, The Superhero - Supergirl x Male Reader
Note: Fluff/Wholesome
Being roommates with a superhero, what could go wrong??
I really like how Supergirl is heading in her new series from Sophie Campbell, and with how DC K.O. is going and what's happening after, I thought I might as well do something with it and voila, we have this imagine. I feel like the stuff that happened in the latest issues of Supergirl, along with the tournament in DC K.O. and the Kandor stuff that'll happen following that event, has put a lot of stress on Kara, making her want to start fresh again, eventually renting an apartment in National City, and she's to also get a roommate to connect with. Kara's been through a lot these last couple of months.
[Then]
Moving from place-to-place was probably one of the more nerve-wracking experiences living as a normal person, there's the coverage of shipping your belongings, various electronics, and not to mention... Changing the address to receive letters, posts, etc.
Not to mention...
It wasn't the first time Y/N had moved from one living space, to another.
He pretty much grew up moving place to place, as tiresome it was. He knew the next destination he chose to stay and live in, would probably be the last time he ever tried moving, unless life said so, and he wondered why his parents would always be stressed every time it happened.
Furthermore, he now began to understand why it was stressful.
Finding the right enclosure, the thought of packaging, transport, everything else, it all seemed to completely overwhelm the poor young man's mind, worried that his stuff might end up getting delivered broken, weighed on him as he stared down along the pavement, carrying most belongings he needed for his daily life, in his bag.
But after searching, and searching... And searching, he finally found a place for himself, but it was the only living space left he could find, and was convinced enough to take it before it was too late.
An Apartment room, which was one he had to share with another individual.
The only information he had, was that his roommate would be a woman around his age, only by a year younger, in her young adult years.
He felt butterflies in his stomach, his own anxiety kicking at the moment he stepped in front of the Apartment building, looking up at the massive skyscraper-like-building, as people behind him walked by, minding their own day.
He took a deep breath and went in...
A number kept repeating in his head, in his own words, he kept repeating a number over and over again, making sure to remind himself of the right room he was to move into. This would be his home, until he was sure what to do next.
He wasn't sure how long he would even stay and have a roommate, the whole feeling made him even more anxious, as he was about to meet someone completely new and had to share the same apartment room with her.
Then the name of the person repeated in his head...
'Linda Danvers'.
He'd seen her photo before, a brunette who wore glasses and had a sweet smile, was literally plastered on the website when he looked up places to live or rent in, specifically the building he found when searching online with his mother.
But the name, Danvers... He swore he recognized that name before, from his time living in Midvale, though it was short-lived, he moved out at a young age.
The Danvers have a daughter?
Or is it a different Danvers?
He wasn't going to worry about that right now, all he had to worry was finding the right damn room, now walking in a hallway, acting out like a sore thumb along the way, he scanned the plaque of numbers beside the doors as he walked by.
Before stopping in his tracks the moment the numbers '32' came in view.
He stared at it, blankly, hand twitching at his side as he tried to calm his mind. His anxiety kicked him in the rear, his stomach sinking in nervousness, he thought he was ready for this?
Of course, he was ready for this! He knew what he was getting himself into when he picked the only room available, which came with a roommate. But the thought of having a roommate, shook his nerves, he seemed to think of the worst things that could happen.
What if she finds him weird?
What if she isn't nice?
What if...
No, he shook the thoughts out and watched his hand glide over the handle of the door, he was informed the door would be unlocked after he arrived via train.
He took a deep breath... And gripped the door handle, and pushed.
The door unlocked, and he stepped in, he was immediately hit with the smell of a fresh vanilla scent, which he took note of the moment he walked in, he felt a feeling of... Comfort in the smell, it reminded him of his mother's scented candles, the ones she'd always light up during the day to freshen up the living space.
The door closed behind him, and he immediately went to shove off his bag, he grabbed the arm-handle before it would crash onto the floor, his back turned to the living room.
As soon as he did so... He heard movement behind him, causing him to look behind, only to find a white-Labrador-Retriever sitting there, looking at him while panting happily, observing the new person that just walked in through the door.
"Um..." he quietly grunted, looking at the dog before he took notice of the dog's collar and the red fabric draped over his back.
The dog's collar had a familiar, yet recognizable symbol on the collar, with a cape draped over the dog's back.
The one symbol that represents Hope, Truth, Justice and a Better Tomorrow.
Y/N blankly stared at the dog, who tilted his head and stopped panting.
He was about to say something, before he heard a voice shouting out.
"Streaky!! No!!" a woman's voice yelled out.
'And that must be...' he paused before looking at the dog again, who stood alert, looking at him.
"I... Think I'm the roommate? I didn't think she'd be into making her dog cosplay as that Superdog" he quietly spoke to the dog in question. However... He responded with a friendly bark.
"Hey! Don't think about knocking that over!!" the voice shrieked from the other room.
Y/N took a moment to sigh and see what the fuss was about, thinking of the worst that could happen if he didn't check on her.
However... The dog followed after him, very curious on the new person who waltzed on in through the door, who casually walked behind the new person.
'This is the right room... Right?' he questioned to himself moments before walking in to see a... Floating cat, who was clearly misbehaving, judging from the knocked over ornaments and bits and pieces. The cat was looking at a blonde haired woman who's clothing was awfully similar to that of Superman's cousin... Supergirl.
"Streaky, I swear to Rao, if you think about knocking that-" the girl stopped in her tracks when she looked to her left, her expression turned from annoyance, to looking like she saw a ghost.
Silence filled the room thereafter, both people stood there, staring at each other blankly, awkwardly.
"...You're not... Linda" Y/N was the one who broke the silence first, as the girl in front of him, who quietly fiddled with the red fabric draping over her shoulders, letting out an awkward noise of what seemed like laughter.
"Y-Yeah, um... Sorry about that, sir, I-"
A hiss then stopped her from speaking, getting her attention as the cat's gaze focused on the new person in the room, the cat's eyes glowed red as it floated there. Growling there, threateningly.
The young man's eyes widened, as the cat was just about to fry his face alive.
"Streaky, no!!" all of a sudden, the girl in question, appeared in front of him in what was super speed, immediately shielding him from the Supercat. "He's our roommate! He's staying with us for a while! Be nice".
Y/N stood there, life flashing before his eyes, initially thinking back on that awkward moment earlier, that he almost missed hearing what the girl said in front of him, while staring down at the yellow crest shaped of a unique S on the back of the woman's cape.
'"Our roommate"'.
The dog soon walked past and just floated up, grabbing the Supercat by the collar and brought him out of the room, to separate the cat from the other two, especially the new person.
"Thanks, Krypto" the girl mumbled quietly, which didn't fall on deaf ears as she was now left alone with the roommate in question. His eyes now drifting up to face the girl who had turned around at this point, exchanging an awkward smile.
"I am so, so sorry about that. Streaky's been... Well, he's been finding it difficult since moving back here. He's not the type of cat to take things easy" the blonde superhero explained.
"Uh..." he only grumbled, blinking there quietly before staring at the girl, who noticed him staring and realized the situation now.
"Oh Rao, um..." she placed her hands behind her back, just under her cape as she looked away. "I can... Explain this" she said, puckering her lips to think of a good excuse.
She could literally just speed out of the room in seconds, but she stood there, thinking of a way to explain what she was doing here, why she was here, without blowing her identity in shambles.
What she didn't account was that he came here earlier than expected, so whatever she thought first, was just thrown out of the window.
"Explain how?" he questioned. "I thought this Linda Danvers was my roommate, not... This" he recalled to earlier, the 'new roommate' calling as he then saw the girl roll her eyes and sigh.
"Ah well... I guess that's thrown out the window too" she muttered loudly. "Not to mention, you saw our company float and wear their capes" she then muttered quietly.
She then sighed, taking a deep breath, she put on a smile and offered her hand.
"Hi" her smile beamed, just like the one shown in Linda's picture.
"Uh... Hi?" Y/N didn't mean to make it sound like he was confused. The girl in front giggled.
"Just so you know... I am, who you think I am".
"Supergirl?" he questioned.
"Yes, but... Your roommate, you know?" she replied, Y/N stared confused at the opened question. "I'm Linda, your roommate" she told him.
"I thought Linda was a brunette and wore glasses?" he said with such a naive tone, making her scoff and smile.
"It's better I show you" she promptly said, walking over to her bedside drawer and pulled out a brush?
"A comb?" Y/N scoffingly questioned.
"You'll see" she winked before taking it to her hair, and glided it through her hair.
Her hair went from blonde, to brunette with just one stroke of her comb, as if it worked like magic. Y/N rubbed his eyes, thinking they were decieving him, but after a few rubs and looking back... He was certain they weren't.
Supergirl then sped around the room, now wearing a blouse that hugged her form, blue pants and popped her glasses on her face.
"Ta-Da!" she overexaggerated, tucking some of her hair behind her ear as she pushed her glasses up. "Does this convince you now?" she asked the stunned Y/N, who stared at her.
He then shook himself out of staring, as staring was considered rude according to his upbringing, he looked at the girl up and down to make sure he wasn't just imagining this at all and... "Okay... I think I'm convinced now" he breathed out.
"Awesome!" she replied before walking over to him, hands behind her back. "So... Let's try that again" she said before offering her hand again. "Hi! I'm Linda Danvers, you're roommate. But you can also call me Kara" she seemed friendly, maybe too friendly?
"Kara?" he rolled the name on his tongue. "So, Kara's your real name?" he questioned.
"Yeah, Linda's a name I go by in public... When I'm not wearing... This" she used her free hand to reveal the S beneath her blouse, showing she was wearing the supersuit underneath. "It's my Gov name, so...".
"Uh..." Y/N looked at Kara's hand and then took it, shaking it as he felt her grip. It was strong, maybe too strong, but it was a comforting strong, it was like shaking hands with an unmovable force. "Y/N L/N".
"That's a nice name" she complimented, casually making him flustered.
"And I've never met a Kara before, so..." he worded out.
"Well, now you have" she smiled and winked. "Again, I'm very sorry about Streaky. Since moving out of Midvale and all the catastrophe with Apokolips, and some Tournament most of us had to participate in. The Superpets went through a lot without us, especially Streaky".
Apokolips? Tournament? Oh yes, he remembered having to abandon Earth for a time being, because Apokolips was doing something to Earth that every citizen had to leave until it was safe again, heroes had to participate in some tournament to save the world.
And Superman went missing for a time after the Earth was reverted back to it's normal state.
"You said... Midvale?" he brought to her attention. "I... Was born there".
"Really?" she questioned. "I don't think I seen you before" she crossed her arms.
"That's because I moved out at an early age" he answered. "But enough about that. I just wanna kick back and relax the now... I'm kinda tired".
"Oh? Well, I can show you your room if you like?" she offered.
"That'd be nice" he nodded.
"Awesome" she smiled. "And probably for the best too, because Streaky might laser your face off if I'm not around you" she told him.
"...Comforting" he deadpanned.
Kara x-rayed the door first before clarifying that Streaky was being occupied with Krypto, she opened the door and Y/N followed behind.
In the living room, Krypto stood guard, watching Streaky's every move. Kara was surprised that he hadn't knocked anything else off the counters and the walls, but as soon as the cat laid eyes on the new person, his fur fluffed up, low audible growls soon coming out from him.
Krypto whined at the cat, as if telling him off before looking over at Kara.
"Keep an eye on him, Krypto, good boy" she praised, the dog barked back in response as Streaky just kept his gaze on Y/N at all times, which made him lean to Kara's ear.
"He surely doesn't like new people, does he?" he questioned. "And here I thought all cats liked me".
"You a cat whisperer?" she questioned, more like a joking question, but he shrugged anyway.
"Kinda thought I was until now".
"Hmm" Kara smiled to herself, before taking note of Streaky "He'll eventually warm up to you, don't worry" she reassured him, but Y/N felt unconvinced, he shrugged however, brushing off the reassurance.
"Here we are" the girl stopped in front of her roomie's door, and opened it, showing a neatly tidied room that was left blank, most likely on purpose for Y/N to customize to his own decree. "I left it barebones so you could decorate it yourself.
Y/N stepped in after her, observing the room for himself, taking mental notes, thinking of where he could put his computer, but the minute he spotted the bed, he couldn't help but just collapse on top of it.
A mumbled sigh escaped him, something unaudible next as Kara stood at the door, giggling.
"You like the bed, huh?" she smirked, crossing her arms and leaned on the frame.
"Very much" he said, half joking, before turning himself around onto his back. "Been waiting all day to lie down".
Kara observed the young man on the bed, smiling to herself for a moment before questioning him.
"I'm guessing you didn't get any good sleep before coming here?" she asked.
"Is this Supergirl asking, or Linda asking?" he joked, making her chuckle lightly.
"A bit of both, but if I'm being honest? It's more of a question Supergirl would ask a citizen" she said back, referring to her alter-ego. Her crest visable in Y/N's line of sight under her blouse, before looking away.
"Well, to answer... No, I haven't had good sleep for the last few days" he answered, which made Kara's smile falter.
"Oh, that's not good, isn't it?".
"Very" he groaned, looking back up at her again. Soon as he did, she smiled back at him.
"By the way, was that your bag I spotted earlier at the door?" she asked, which made him jolt upwards.
"Oh crap, yeah. Sorry about that, I'll just go-" she then sped off in a blur "-get it" before reappearing in front of him, his bag in hand, holding it with one hand.
"Here you go" she placed it in front of him beside his bed, and gave him a sweet smile. "That'll be five dollars".
"...Um".
"I'm kidding! I'm kidding!" she laughed, seeing the look on his face. "What kind of person would I be asking for money?" she asked. "I'm Supergirl".
"Almost had me checking if I had my wallet..." his expression changed, he quickly checked his bag, making sure he did bring his wallet. "Wait... Yeah, I do have my wallet, if I didn't, I wouldn't be here right now".
Kara was about to speak back, a joke in the chamber, where then she heard alarms sounding off, cries for help and lots of shouting, along with sirens wailing.
Y/N noticed the expression on Kara's face, as if she was offended by something.
"What's wrong?".
"Trouble" she took off her glasses and zoomed off for a moment, then zooming back into view, now in blonde hair that flaunted and her cape resting behind her. "Looks like the Bank of National City has the nasty kind of visitors" she remarked.
"Oh boy. Lemme guess, you gonna go save the day?" he asked, half-jokingly.
"Quite" she smiled, she went to leave but made a double take, her hand on the door knob. "Hey, if you ever need something, I'm one call away. I think you'll love it here" she said in a hopeful, but generous manner.
"Oh yeah. I mean, my roommate is a superhero, who better than it be Supergirl, huh?" he replied.
Kara remained there with a smile, maybe for too long before she overheard more shouting with her super hearing. "Make yourself at home, I look forward to knowing more about my new roomie" she beamed before closing the door, both exchanging a smile
"Right back at you" Y/N then found himself staring at the door longer than he wished, before fully laying on his back, looking up to the ceiling.
Placing his hands behind his head, his earlier anxiety and nervous thoughts seemed to have all just... Vanished away, he didn't exactly notice it the moment he found out there was more to his new roommate than anyone could see. The fact that his roommate is Supergirl, made him feel almost safe, protected even.
But it was too early to tell, he'd only just met the girl behind the cape that no other normal person would be able to see.
His daydreaming soon ended when he caught a glimpse of a shadow underneath his door, and a faint whine from the other side.
Y/N silently sighed to himself and got up from the bed, taking a few steps to the door and turned the knob, pulling it after turning and saw Krypto sitting on the other side.
"Uh... Hi there" he said in awkward fashion, before the dog walked in. "Uh, buddy, I don't know if-" he stopped talking the moment the Superdog jumped on top of the bed, his tongue hanging out as he pants happily before promptly sitting still.
"Huh... I guess Kara wanted you to guard me, huh?" he smiled. He'd only just met her and she wanted the dog to protect him while she was momentarily away. He then sighed and closed the door. "Okay, buddy. But I'm going for some shut eye, think you're fine with that?".
Krypto sat there, still panting away without a care in the world, Y/N took that as a yes and laid back down on the bed.
He grumbled slightly, trying to make himself feel comfortable in the soft bed. 'Bed sure feels nicer than the one at home' he mentally noted, before closing his eyes, letting his thoughts drift away in silence...
As this happened, he felt a sudden weight on his chest, opening one eye to see Krypto's head resting on his chest. He couldn't help but just smile at the dog's action. 'I hope Kara won't be jealous about her dog' he noted before drifting off to sleep...
[Now]
It had been months... 6-8 months?
Yes, it had been eight months since he first moved into the apartment. He thought it was gonna be for brief, until he could figure out what he wanted to do with his life, other than editing and all sorts of things.
He was wrong... He never thought he'd stay, and stay he did, because that meant not being able to see Kara again... Probably. But he didn't want to take that gamble.
But in those months? He learned a lot that not many people get to learn.
What life really is like being a superhero.
Of course he hasn't seen it through his eyes, but he has through another's. Through Kara's.
The responsibility, the feeling of the weight of the world on one's shoulders, having to risk your own life day in and day out, just to keep Earth and any living inhabitants safe, even if they're not innocent.
But he also learned a lot of things from Kara that she doesn't tell everyone.
Krypton...
She was there when it fell, when the planet was in the midst of chaos, the day Krypton died. However, there was two cities that survived the collapse of Krypton, Kandor and Argo, she was from Argo.
But the city was already doomed after Krypton's fall, the people were getting sick and dying due to the Kryptonite that was poisoning their crops and themselves. Food was hard to harvest and the people were dying left and right. Her father built her a rocket to send her off to Earth, to survive and follow her baby cousin, Kal-El to protect him. But even then... She didn't make it in time, she arrived too late, Kal-El had already grown-up, and became Superman.
Kara however? Nout. She was fifteen when she left Argo to survive, and was stuck in a time-induced sleep until her pod made it to Earth.
Y/N still remembered that night, the first time he'd ever seen tears in Kara's eyes, that even she, who is considered the Girl of Steel, has a breaking point, she tried her very best to not shed tears but for some reason, being around him, made her feel vulnerable enough to just spill everything to him.
She even spilled the stuff that happened in her time back at Midvale, then the conflict during the tournament to save the world, then all the Kandor stuff... Boy, she had been through so much bullshit, that she had it all bottled up and just let it out. Y/N remembered being there all night on the couch with her, holding her close as she spilled everything, not letting her go until she was calm again. All she needed that night, was someone to hug and hold close like one of her plushies.
If she could be there for him, then he could be there for her when things turn around like this.
She came back to National City to start fresh again, and who better than to start with meeting someone new.
He didn't know it at the time, but it was the first instance he felt more... Closer to her than ever before.
Maybe too close? To the point he was beginning to feel toward her, that tuggy feeling that made him warm inside. He wasn't sure at the time, so he ignored it, and treated her as a friend.
But there's been moments where he walked into Kara casually undressing herself without using her super speed, or the time he was topless and Kara couldn't help but stare at his chest and back, which got her teased at by some of her family, who Y/N was lucky enough to have met.
But there was a moment he realized he was really falling for Kara. The moment she saved him while he was out getting groceries, she offered to get the groceries herself after the sudden scare he got from a couple of low-life thugs that attempted to rob him at gun-point, unaware that Supergirl was watching Y/N the whole time.
The feeling of watching her casually brush off the bullets while teasing them, grabbing their guns and crushing them without effort before their very eyes, punching them each once as her hair flaunted, her skirt and cape shifting with her movements... Then being safely secured in her arms as she flew over the city, with that caring, but bold smile on her lips.
He realized right then and there, he was falling in love.
But he didn't know how to express it, how to even tell her.
He's had a girlfriend before, two in fact, one had broken up with him three months after he moved to National City, and Kara was there to comfort him through that, but that was it.
He just never thought he'd find the one person that understands him more than anyone else, besides his parents, besides the only two people who were his close friends. To him...
Kara wasn't just a roommate at that point.
Kara was the most important person in his life. And there was a feeling, she knew it, but didn't want to act on it, until he made the move. Yes, she felt something toward him, even when he had a girlfriend. But after that, she always kept account of the times his heart would skip a beat or race whenever she entered the room or his view, it was very adorable to her.
And now... Standing in front of him... Was her.
She looked at him, right in the eyes, with nothing but admiration. She noticed him staring and her instincts kicked in, she grabbed his hand, snapping him out of his daydream.
"You okay, Sparky?" she asked. "You've been staring at me for the past minute or two".
Realization dawned on his face, as he looked down to the hand Kara grasped warmly, feeling her body heat in the cold weather. His eyes caught a glimpse of her cape picking up by the wintry wind as so did her hair.
"Yeah, I'm fine, Goldie-Locks" he smiled as his breath was seen in the cold air. He found himself atop the highest point in National City, after Kara flew him up to it, following their day out where she briefly had to excuse herself to stop a crime. "Just thinking back on the day we met".
"Oh Rao" she cursed playfully with a smile tugging at her lips. "You arrived earlier than I expected then".
"And If it weren't for you, Streaky could've melted my face off" he laughed softly. "Have I ever thanked you for saving me there?" he asked, but Kara thought back on it.
"I... Don't think so? Even then, I always take things for granted" she shrugged.
"Well... Thank you" he smiled.
"Wow, Thanking me eight months later is crazy" she pretended to be offended.
"Well, I technically did by listening to you and making myself feel at home" he argued back playfully.
"That's not really being thankful, y'know?" she counterpointed.
"In my experience, it does" he shrugged.
"What??" she giggled, long enough to make him laugh.
Soon after they calmed down, Y/N looked into Kara's eyes, and felt his heart skip a beat the moment she locked eyes, a faint smirk tugged at her lips the moment his heart skipped, hearing it pound against his chest.
He thought of many words to say but, every time he opened his mouth... He couldn't get them out.
Kara Zor-El was so beautiful in his eyes, she looked so radiant, so elegeant, so distracting.
There was a saying...
She's beauty, she's grace... (and she comes from outer space!)
Kara is the embodiment of beauty and grace, but love and fun. Through all that she's been through, she still manages to push through her worst thoughts and fears to put smiles on people's faces, no matter the cost.
"Y/N" his name rolled on the Girl of Steel's tongue. "You're staring again" she said sweetly, but concerned. "You sure everything's alright?"
He took a moment to regather his thoughts, before smiling to her, finding her eyes looking back at his for an answer.
He felt butterflies in his stomach, he felt his heart racing, the thrill of the thought of just... Pushing his lips against hers right there.
Kara Zor-El, Supergirl, cares about him, that thought screamed in his brain. She had that 'you can tell me anything' expression on her face as he took a deep breath.
"Yeah, sorry. I can't help but stare because..." he paused, gulping down softly. "Because you're so damn distracting" he spilled quietly, he knew she could hear him say it.
"..." Kara's ears just burned red the moment he said it, her breath hitched as she smiled looking away, trying to gather a single thought in her brain.
For a moment, he thought he shouldn't have said what he said, but he felt Kara's hand gently tighten around his glove.
He looked back at her and saw it... He saw what he was trying to find.
He found himself smiling, a soft, genuine smile tugged at the corner of his lips, and so did Kara's. The wind softly picked up her hair, making it woosh like her cape behind her.
"If you asked me six months ago that I'd ever stay here... You would've heard me say no" he then spoke softly, Kara silently listened, blocking all the sound out to just hear what the man in front of her had to say. "But me then would never be able to stand here, today... In front of the one person I never want to drift away from" he unconsciously leaned forward, just a little, not too close to her face, but enough to show he was thinking of going for it.
Kara's heart skipped a beat the moment she noticed, she looked up and down at his face, licking her lips to clear out any dryness she felt around them.
"I think... I think I know what I want to do with my life".
"And what would that be?" she asked him softly.
But he didn't answer, he just smiled.
She watched the young man just slowly lean in, placing his free hand in the warm wintry glove and caress her cheek.
Before she could fathom of his small action, she felt soft lips press against hers and the world just faded, only leaving him in her view.
She then softly moaned into his lips as she placed an arm around his back, then let go of his hand to put her other arm securely around him, holding him close as she melted into his lips.
His lips danced softly with hers, as his hand glided over to Kara's shoulder, he felt his feet lift off the ground, feeling the rush of the wind.
Kara had waited for this moment for months, maybe since the first or second month he moved in. She always stopped herself from just taking his face into her hands and pressing her lips against his. She was brave enough to place a kiss on his cheek maybe a couple of times, but on the lips? No... She couldn't, she didn't want to risk it.
And now...
It was all worth the wait.
It could've happened at New Years two-three weeks ago, unlike that one time last New Years Eve in Midvale with another boy, the kiss surprisingly didn't happen. But the wait was so worth it.
And with Valentines Day coming up in a couple of weeks, Kara realized that she now has her Valentine set in motion, no more looking elsewhere for love, she found it already... All she had to do was look in front of her.
Y/N pulled back to get some air, his breath seen in the cold wind as Kara softly giggled, her forehead gently resting against his.
"Took you long enough" she softly remarked, earning a soft giggle.
"Did it now?" he said in the same tone as hers, he opened his eyes and found hers looking back at him, a soft smile tugged at his lips.
"Let's just say I've been waiting... six months to do that" she answered with a grin flaring up, he in turn looked at her shocked.
"Really? Even after I told you I was dating my ex at the time?" he laughed quietly. "So you were jealous, you liar!".
"Me? Jealous?? You're dreaming, Sparky" she fired back playfully.
"Oh I know your jealous face, I've lived with you long enough to know" he replied, chuckling at her attitude as she giggled away, not denying it at all.
The two floated there in silence, Kara holding him close, safe and secure in her strong, but warm embrace. She listened to his steady heart, which skipped a beat when she placed a sneaky kiss on his lips.
"Oh? Getting bold now, huh?" he smirked.
"Sorry, I couldn't help myself" she was giddy, maybe too giddy about it, the expression on her face was too priceless to not laugh at. Who knew Supergirl was this smitten over a kiss?
"You didn't answer my question though" she then responded after the laughing fit died down.
"What ques-oh" he looked dumbfounded, but smiled with a sigh. "I thought the kiss would answer it to be fair".
"A kiss isn't exactly an answer, Sparky" she giggled. "It's a welcomed one... But I'd like a genuine answer with words, too" she shifted herself around in the air, turning in slow circles as the building below got further away.
There, they stayed high enough to be over the entire city, not on any platform, just them... In the night sky, two roommates who have fallen for each other after months of build-up, trust and warmth.
A superhero, and a normal citizen.
An Alien and a Human.
Y/N looked away for a moment, smiling to oneself before looking back at the blonde with admiration, and with an answer.
"I want to be with the person that just understands me for who I am. Who cares about me, and makes me feel much more safer, knowing she's out there, day in and day out, saving the day and keeping the Earth safe" he directly looked to her, leaning his forehead against hers.
"Me?".
"Yes, you, dummy".
"Ouch, that was mean" she pouted, leaning her head back. "I am not a dummy!".
"T-aww, I'm sorry, Goldie-Locks" he teased, kissing her cheek next. The pair laughed softly at each other.
The couple enjoyed the comforting silence that followed, as their foreheads rested against each other, eyes closed as the chilly wind picked up, which began to send chills down the human's spine.
Y/N let out a chilly breath, which caught the girl's attention the moment she sensed his heart skip due to the cold. "Is it getting colder?" she asked comfortly.
"Well... We're high above the city, so... Yeah" he remarked. "Would you mind flying us back to our place? A hot chocolate would sound really nice right now" he said as his breath slightly hitched, Kara in turn warmed her body up, which he let out a comforting sigh.
"With cream and marshmallows??" she pressed.
"Yeah, that'd be really nice too" he replied, Kara swiftly swooped her arm under his legs to put him in a princess carry. A faint smile dragged across his lips in Kara's warmth.
"And off we go!" she beamed.
And off the roommates went.
