“What are those!!!?!” Bo meme’d me over my Buzz Lightyear shoes and it was the best!
It occurs to me that midway mania could have been a much better attraction if it had just been an original story.
BUT let’s say the mandate was in and Toy Story characters were necessary. Wouldn’t it have made a ton more sense, since it’s on a Victorian Boardwalk, for like the backstory to be that Andy and his family are on vacation at the pier staying in this old building and he brought his toys along. In the attic the toys found this really old playset of miniature boardwalk games. Like little brass and stained metal parts, cardboard signs, etc. The games haven’t been played in ages and are sooooo happy for Andy’s toys to play them. And the threat of Andy coming back.
You still get the Toy Story characters, you get a better aesthetic, a coherent story appropriate to the environment with some flavor of originality, and a KILLER merchandise opportunity. Rather than the self contradicting story that’s there now.
