I just realized I somehow never posted this art I commissioned @nev-jpgg for on here!! It's from my Sapphic Robin Hood short story in Artifice & Access: A Disability in Fantasy Anthology Fixing that now because LOOK AT THEM!! Look At Robin looking at Marian so earnestly!! Look at Marian!! Look at the detail in her dress and on her wheelchair!!!

The book I am currently reading has a non-binary main character, autism rep and decent migraine rep. May the books gods be blessed for giving me an author that made me feel seen in so many many ways.

my debut, a queer, small press, ya contemporary fantasy, Child of the Dragon, came out earlier this month, and I'm just so stinking proud of it. I'm never going to make lists with this, but I published an entire book!! Little me would be so freaking proud. I did it for her, and I did it for all the teenagers who would rather be fighting dragons (or be a dragon!) than deal with high school! (and for all the adults who like YA who would also rather be a dragon than deal with...well...everything else...)

get a copy or add it to your favorite book review site here (the buy links are the main US stores I know about, but it should be available in English in most countries (though I have been made aware that the amazon price in europe is astronomical, so try to find a book store that has it! I know of bookstores in Poland and the Neatherlands for sure that can order it in for a much more reasonable price))

Hot book take (apparently)

I really don't enjoy migraine rep when it involves magic in fantasies/paranormal/horror. It is almost always either a curse to be reversed which feels a little reductive and not something I can relate to personally, knowing I can never lift my "curse". Or it's tied to magical powers that result in symptoms when using the power or the magic hits them and this is even less relatable. I don't cause my own pain, except for pushing myself too hard, and my symptoms are not in exchange for some magical gift. I don't feel acknowledged at all and feel completely disconnected from that part of the story. 🤷

I definitely get that some people want to see a brighter side of their pain, and a world where it is either for a good reason, or can be gotten rid of, that's just not what I'm looking for.
