Re-watching season 1, it's pretty clear that Mills and Dawson were a better match than Casey and Dawson ever were.

Casey finally found what he was looking for in Brett, and they both found happiness with each other. I hope Mills and Dawson get back together off screen, and find the happiness that they deserve!

I was just thinking about the parallel between Chief Boden telling Mills not to date Dawson, and he told him (respectfully) that his personal life is none of his business, and how Casey told Borelli the same and he obeyed.
