The recording studio in Costa Rica where Louis and his team of collaborators are recording (part or all of) LT3 is called ‘elstudio’, and is located in the green hills of Santa Teresa, an off-the-beaten-track beach town on the southern tip of the Nicoya peninsula on Costa Rica's Pacific coast. The studios are owned by musician, sound engineer and music producer Jeff Claeys.

The ‘elstudio’ is part of the Miloco Studios group, which is run by a small studio team based in London. Their website says: ‘Miloco works in partnership with some of the biggest producers and studios in the world, but if you are just starting out we can help you make the right choice for your recording project. All the studios on our site, in the UK and around the world, have been selected by us, so we are confident we can help you.’

And we can see how the photos perfectly match those posted by David Sneddon (Scottish singer, songwriter and music producer who co-wrote ‘Silver Tongues’ as well as ‘She is Beauty, We are World Class’ and ‘Saturdays’) on his Instagram yesterday, 7 May 2025, with the caption ‘Went to a studio in the Costa Rican jungle with mates and listened to a lot of Yacht Rock. What a thing.’

Coldplay's Beehive went through a major renovation becoming "2 studios (the second part with the white walls is called the Lion's Den) and breakout areas"! (source, comment section by Miloco)

Miloco Studios is known to have a team that worked on both Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends as well as some songs from Everyday Life two of which "Champion Of The World" and the title track "Everyday Life" made it onto the album (source). But this time they also participated in a major change of Beehive, joining efforts with Coldplay's producer Dan Green. The process seems to start in 2021 (source) and by 2023 the Miloco Studios account on Twitter posted the following report:

"Another inspiring studio finished by the Miloco Builds team, this one for legendary band Coldplay.

Producer Dan Green initially got in touch in early 2021 to discuss some renovations to their Beehive studio, a large space the band had been using for writing but with very basic treatment and a floor that needed replacing. They wanted to create some booths, but keep the main space as a huge creative control room. Once the initial strip out had begun, it was clear that to properly float a new concrete slab some extensive building work would be needed, so the brief grew substantially.

What we’ve achieved speaks for itself. The natural light and cantilevered treatment is reminiscent of the scheme at The Church, although the warm tones in the flooring and fabric give the space a homely feel with a nod to the futuristic. The audio install was completed by our team with absolutely zero compromises - point to point and with the best pres to be found anywhere.

Throughout the rest of the building a similar design philosophy meant opening out smaller rooms, moving the bathrooms and storage to the basement to create a second studio on the second floor with views across London. It’s a studio designed by engineers for engineers, and we are very proud to be part of this milestone in the band’s history.

Of the project, Dan says:

“Miloco have been a pleasure to work with and were able to complete the project to a very tight deadline. There was great communication throughout, from the acoustic design, connectivity to the lighting and everything in between they have had the greatest attention to detail… Pete and the team have created and delivered the most inspiring creative space that I have ever worked in.”" (source)

Sitting right at the top of the building, the den is a comfortable and airy writing room with fantastic views over London. This is a songwriter’s heaven; decadently appointed with synths, instruments and noise makers, and altogether a wonderfully calming and creative space." (Source)

Three weeks down. One more to go.

So I've been in London for three weeks on an internship at Miloco studios. It's been a great experience! The staff have been friendly and the engineers, producers and especially the assistants have been insightful and full of great advice.

I've witnessed how a successful studio runs and how the process of recording happens.

I most likely won't be offered a job and that's ok. What I do know is that I have never been so sure in my life that I want a job in the music industry. I can safely say that I would happily make tea in a studio for the rest of my life if it meant being exposed to music on this caliber and meeting like-minded people. It's renowned people such as Flood and Moulder, that show me where i want to be and it's people like engineer Jake that show me the path to get there. Working in a job where  people have the same passion as you is what happiness is to me.

I don't know how many internships, I'll go on, how many unpaid jobs I'll do. But what I do know is this.

I know who I am and what I want in life. These are two things that can't and won't be taken from me.
