so for most of the ones you guys know rn (Micah, Min-Kyu, Lydia) their lives weren't as bad as Luce's so since these are the ones you know i will write them here
Min-Kyu -> since he's mostly a kpop demon hunters oc i will first write down his family life there and then the one in the au when he's just an idol and not a demon
kdh min-kyu - he's a 200+ year old demon so he lived in the Joseon era Korea, I won't focus much on history here but what you need to know is that court entertainment was still a big thing then including music, his mother was a court dancer though she wasn't beautiful or graceful enough to earn a high pay so she and Min-Kyu were poor and very much restrained, Min-Kyu's mother was a kind person but she had barely any time to spend with her child who was growing up alone, Min-Kyu showed interest in male dominated arts from a very young age and was too masculine for a girl, with no resources or records on transness during that time and fear of having her child executed under susception of mental illness, Min-Kyu's mother forced him to learn how to dance, sing and play instruments like any other women did. He was very good in musical arts and actually learned to love it so he is thankful towards his mother for helping him find something he loves even if it was caused by fear. After becoming a demon he continued to watch his mother from the shadows until she died (he never moved on from the strong bond he and his mother had, even if most of his childhood he spent alone, from his early teen to early adult years he spent by his mother's side and they grew close and for that reason he never cut his hair believing that it'd let him keep the memories of his mother forever)
regular idol au: in this au his life is a bit different, his mother is a music producer still very busy in Min-Kyu's early childhood because working for big labels is time consuming, Min-Kyu was showing interest in boyish things and he started to get bullied because of it so his mother decided to get him into music which worked for a few years until Min-Kyu got access to global internet and discovered the term transgender, his life got complicated and for a while his mother couldn't face him because she was scared that if she let him be who he desired to be then he would be harassed or worse. That was a big crash for their relationship and once Min-Kyu started his transition even though she didn't voice her support at first she gave in once she realised how happy it made him feel. Generally their relationship is pretty good and she's supportive of him throughout his idol career.
Micah - His family life is very chill in a lack of a better word. They care for each other deeply, parents support Micah and Nina (his younger sister) about everything they want to do. The family is connected by their love for music. Though of course Micah and Nina as any siblings had their ups and downs especially when Nina was going through puberty but they never stopped loving each other (as siblings pls dont be weird!!!) even during that hard time. Currently Micah lives with Nina in Suli Sands (my fictional city) while their parents moved from Nashville (TN) to Harrisburg (PA), Nina chose to live with Micah because she always wanted to move there and him going there was just perfect for her.
Lydia - She's in a very weird family surrounded by magic and ghosts, they're a very queer and positive family (she has a mother and an amab nonbinary parent and 2 younger siblings that include a lesbian sister), Lydia's parents always let them and their younger siblings pick whether or not they want to expand on their gifts (Lydia - a medium practising witchcraft, Heather a practicing witch, Eddie a medium) so there was never force from the adults' sides. The family lives in a big house with Lydia's grandmothers (they're married (they got widowed at the same time... totally accidentally ofc, and formed a marital bond with magic before it became legal by law for two women to get married), Lydia's peers saw her as weird ofc their whole family was outcasted in all the towns they lived in because they practiced magic and believed in ghosts, spirits and demons. Not like they ever cared tho, the Hawthrones are thick skinned and as long as it's strangers who point fingers at them and mock them, they won't really care. Being raised around spirits - good and evil, probably fucked up little Lydia's head (since they're kinda dating Ther and Ronin if I put them in Gluttony Gods/Angelwood au (the long ahh fic/commission was inspired by Lydia x Thernin lore) you can tell that there's something wrong /hj) but i'd have to explain more via writing some childhood tales of Lydia with spirits and magic if i wanted to give more info about it....
yeah that's pretty much it ! i have more ocs in the making or once that i haven't shared here but hey! i made/am making (hard to tell tbh) a little discord space where i share my ocs and yap about it, for now it's just me in there lol but if anyone would like to enter that space feel free to tell me! i'd love to chat with ppl about my ocs <3
