Garden Elf Doors // Alchemist Storage
It’s gonna be a bit low rez as the customer took the photos. But the whole necron army was completed and shipped off to be with its owner!
Prolly the biggest most stress inducing commission I’ve done to date. Even more than the greater Deamons.
It’s off because I’ve been kinda lost without the self hatred of needing to finish this project. The drives a bit dead and I have a severe lack of motivation to paint now. I’m sure there’s a good reason besides that as to why, I’m depressed so who knows. But it is what it is.
A miniature of a woman playing a harp by Joseph Bouton, 18th century.
I finished the Night Lord Captain! I am most pleased with this mini and want to show him off. While I was painting him, I tried out a couple of new techniques I have picked up while browsing the internet.
The first one was a tutorial on Pinterest of all places and involved the jump pack jet. It focused on where the light should be to create a glowing effect, which I think came off rather nicely:
The other was the shading to give his armour a sort of sheen, and to ensure it was coming from one direction. I think I have achieved this to some degree on the finished miniature but again, this is something I am going to keep practicing. I built the colour up using multiple thin laters and all in all, I am pleased with the outcome.
The last thing I added was the lightning. I thinned down some ice blue and with a steady hand and a references picture, I painted it over the dark blue where I thought it would look cool. I believe I succeeded in that.
He also needs a proper name, a task I have entrusted to an expert of the VIIIth. All in all, I am considering this guy done.
Captain Gloves I finished the Night Lord Captain! I am most pleased with this mini and want to show him off.
As a kid, and a tween, I was a huge dollhouse fan, with an obsession for tiny things. I had, at one point, three, all fully (if chaotically) decorated with mixes of expensive mock-oak furniture from the pricey toy store in my city's fanciest shopping…

Recently got into playing Konflikt 47, the Weird World War 2 war game from Warlord Games, an expansion to Bolt Action. Originally I started out looking for a cheaper alternative to 40k that would still let me have my plastic crack addiction, and boy did I find it, but having played it a few times while building up my armies my honest opinion is that it is more fun and chaotic too. It requires much more thinking on your feet; rather than “Plan 4 turns ahead, roll dice for 4 turns, alter strategy for last 2 turns.” You have to alter your tactics several times a turn, mostly because your infantry are so fragile. Hopefully I am going to get the chance to put some ‘old White Dwarf style’ battle reports on this blog as I build up my two armies.
