It started because of the power going out, here in Washington, and a lady lost all of her fish except a “good sized” sucker fish, she was giving him away, along with a 20 gallon aquarium and setup. Jazlyn, my granddaughter was wanting to upgrade her 5 gallon, and we figured good sized Pleco would be about 5 or 6 inches long. The lady got in touch with me and I went to get it all. That sucker (fish) was in a five gallon bucket and it was curled. The thing is 13 inches long! I’ve ate smaller fish! Anyway Jazlyn gets it all set up, and this fish makes a 20 gallon tank look small. Now, a couple of days ago I see someone posted in a Facebook group that they had a large pleco and huge angelfish with a 29 gallon tank and set up. I replied, that I wanted it, she said if I wanted to come get it and clean everything I could have it all, so I did. They were actively neglecting the tank and fish, the water was filthy. I now have a probably full grown angelfish and the bigger of the the 2 plecos. The smaller is better off in Jazlyn’s tank. I will get a few smaller fish, but not many with these monsters. My aquarium is the blue one, my granddaughter is moving this weekend and so her isn’t completely set up. I am so happy right now.
We have Lucifer the angelfish that was living in hell. Dumdum is the smaller Pleco (my granddaughter named him after the little suckers call dumdums), and Minataur, since he’s like a bull in a China shop. I’m pretty sure Lucifer is a male and he seems to be pretty old, but I don’t know, he’s bigger than my hand and that’s at least 7 inches. I love him already.
