Anthropic Principle

We live in a universe that seems to be made just for life.  There are so many fine tuning that  “if any of several fundamental constants were only slightly different, the Universe would be unlikely to be conducive to the establishment and development of matter, astronomical structures, elemental diversity, or life as it is understood” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fine-tuned_Universe).  Over 100 years ago, scientists were confounded with the fine structure constant which is a formula for the strength of the electromagnetic force which is 1/137.  If it was any other number, atoms, and molecules could not form.  There would not be life as we know it.  This number comes out of nature.  It is dimensionless which means it has no units of measurements, such as seconds, or metric units.  It is something nature has mysteriously created that gives life.

Science use models to try to understand this fine tuning.  One is that there are multiworlds with an infinite number of universes and we so happen to be in one.  Another model is that we, through our consciousness, create this universe. Another is God made the universe.

A model is very much like a thought experiment to dislodge one’s view in approaching a problem.  A logical tool to see it differently and perhaps shed some new idea that has been overlooked, or hidden due to biases.

The model I use is that at every planck location the universe is expanding in all directions at the speed of light.  One may not adhere to this model as being scientifically sound, but it does give another way of looking at this anthropic principle.  This force from the expanding universe interacts with itself and creates the interference from out of which everything is created.  In other words, everything is made out of this interference and interactions.  From this, everything else is derived from it.  

We are in the universe that this force is a certain number 1/137 for our fine structure constant which then all matter and laws are formed out of this.  If the force of the expanding universe has a different numerical force value then this will result in a different number, say 1/149,  from which all matter and laws in that universe are formed.  Life would be found in both universes, but different as the fine structure constant is different from each other and which leads to different construction.  This is similar to be using Lego blocks of different set of measurements: one set of Lego blocks be one size; and another set of Lego blocks be of a different size.  Both are using the same number of Lego blocks for construction and will still be able to build the same object, but will be different in size from each other.

Our  fine structure constant will be different from another universe with a different fine structure constant, but since this forms all the matter and laws, life will still be the end result.  In other words, fine tuning can not be helped as that is what will always be the end result of the expanding universe expanding at every planck point.  

There is a fundamental, first order, building block from which all is created out of and this can only create fine tuning constant and laws.  I so happen use the expanding universe as the fundamental building block, but you can have your own idea for the fundamental building block from which everything is made out of.  And so, life will always be the end result.  As it can never be anything else, but life and consciousness.
