(Jerome is a daisy cow that might be cannibalistic)

Walking across the hot, burning sand had your feet aching.
Soreness panged in your back and you were humming the tune to a forgotten song. There was a sheer blindfold over your eyes, there to protect them from the sand and give a bit of elusiveness should you meet anyone out here.
Not that that was likely. You specifically traveled through this path because the low chances of rewards made it not worth the risk to traverse the dangerous terrain.
The sun was high in the sky, beating down on you and light colored rabbits hopped around you, narrowly avoiding tall cacti.
An old scientist from your village days had sent you a letter; a warning of people who were looking for you.
You didn’t know what these people wanted so you packed up, strengthened your runes, and left.
It pained you to have to leave Jerome behind, but you weren’t sure how much these strangers knew about you so it was best to leave no trail. You asked Henry, your closest neighbor, to watch over the cannibalistic cow and-
A flash of yellow flashed in the corner of your head and your head whipped to it. It was a vibrant, yellow axolotl.
In the desert.
You spotted a small pond behind them and walked closer. The axolotl’s gills raised in defense and a high-pitched bark erupted from it. You took the warning and stopped.
Movement in the pond caught your eye and mini axolotls peeked out from under the surface. Those were baby axolotls which meant the one in front of you was the mother.
There was a wide river that led to a larger pond nearby so you looked at the sky and gauged how much time you had before nightfall.
Only a few hours, but you could make it work. You took out a shovel from your inventory and walked a wide semi-circle to the other side of the pond. You also took out a piece of clownfish you had saved and tossed it into the pond.
The mama axolotl -Charlie- kept an eye on you as they darted to the dead fish and chowed down.
You began digging, heaving sand into a pile past where you wanted. Several minutes passed and a sizable trench started to form.
An hour went by and you were nearly finished. You dug your shovel in the stand and leaned on it slightly. As you caught your breath, the water from the river broke through the last barrier and started flowing in.
You stood up straight and stretched your arms, sighing in relief as your muscles relaxed a bit.
Grabbing your shovel, you made your way to the shallower pond and dug the beginning of the path. The baby axolotls were eating the rest of the fish and Charlie was more relaxed, allowing you to get closer and destroy the last gap.
The sand gave way and you quickly hopped out of the trench as the water flooded through and leveled.
A groan behind you made you twirl around.
A Drown was pulling itself out of the water and making its way towards you. That made you look up finally and you realized the sun had nearly finished setting
As the rotting, waterlogged corpse crept closer you turned back and ran. Weaving and dodging your way through the undead mobs crawling out for their naptimes, you spotted a cave in a sandstone wall and veered toward it.
You made it inside and swiveled your head, seeing a hole and jumping down the wall. Pressing your back against the cool stone wall gave you the opportunity to catch your breath and lean your head back.
You shook your head as you found your furnace and slapped it on the floor. You had some potatoes, some carrots, a bag of sweet berries, half a bundle of cheese, mushrooms, and one slab of beef left in your inventory.
The sun finally dipped and all light was replaced by the low shine of the rising moon. The space was dimly lit as you struck a stick and lit the furnace.
The previous coal crumbles from past uses sparked quickly and a small fire began.
While your furnace warmed up, you pulled out a potato, your bundle of cheese, and your mushrooms. You took out a dagger; it was the first dagger you had successfully made after shadowing a blacksmith in a village that had welcomed you warmly.
The fond memories hit your heart with nostalgia and you made a commitment to revisit them when this blew over.
The heat of the furnace warmed your face as you quickly stabbed the potato a few times and tossed it in the top section. As it cooked you took the moment to look around.
The cave, if it was to be called that, was shallow. A few ores of coal were scattered across the walls but you didn’t have manny materials so it wasn’t worth it to make a pickaxe and mine them.
You made your way back to the corner and pulled out the potato, tossing in some cheese and mushroom, you waited for the added toppings to warm up and for the cheese to grow languid in its meltiness.
You didn’t have to wait long and you devoured every bite.
Your stomach, at last, stopped grumbling and you settled in for the night, pressing your back against the cool stone.
You leaned your head back and closed your eyes. Sleep welcomed you with open arms and dreams lifted you through the night.
.
.
.
You couldn't remeber much of your dreams. Only a faint sense of nostalgia was left behind
You didn’t open your eyes just yet, wanting to savor the momentary peace before you had to continue the trek and put more strain on your aching legs.
A few minutes passed and you finally opened your eyes, pulling your arms behind your head to stretch your back. Your back cracked and released the built up tension. Sighing in relief, you looked up and froze,
A person in a dark red shirt was standing over you with a smug smile plastered on their face
Your eyes locked on each other before you scrambled up and launched yourself at him.
He was caught off guard and fell to the floor, the smile sliding off his face as you quickly stabbed his right shoulder and rolled off him.
A loud yell followed and you stood up, turning your heel and rushing to the wall. You searched your inventory frantically and threw a cobblestone block on the floor, jumping onto it and climbing over the edge.
It was daytime now and the sun was fully glaring down above the horizon. Scraps of rotten flesh, scattered bones, and small piles of gunpowder littered the terrain. You didn’t waste any time observing the land, instead continuing your desperate sprint.
You heard rapid footsteps behind you and formed a plan to get away.
You fell to the floor, your knees sliding the hot grains of sand and he ran past you. You got back up and ran in the opposite direction. He skidded to a stop and turned around sharply.
There was an area you saw the night before that was sagging, a tell-tale sign of a sand pit. You ran to it and slowed down, listening for his following steps.
…
Nothing.
There was nothing behind you. You whirled around and tensed, pulling out a worn stone sword. Your head swiveled all around and your eyes slid to every shadow.
The hairs on your arm stood up and you straightened up. Before you could move, a hand shot out behind you and covered your mouth and the ground collapsed.
You fell through the floor and shook your head, your arm stretching out to grasp the wall. Your hand clamped down on a wall and your shoulder pulled with it.
A groan came from below you and you looked down; he was lying on the floor with an arm over his face. You let go of the ledge and squatted as you landed.
You walked over to his semi-limp body and stood over him, “Really, man?”
The elbow slid off his face and he glared at you. “Why the hell did you run?”
“A little birdie told me some people were coming after me and you were one of the only few people that knew where I was. Sooo, I came out here in this blazing torchpit and was just gonna camp around til you showed up.” You shrugged.
He sat up and stared at you, “What were you planning on doing when I did?’
“Hopefully killing you, Conner.”
He grinned playfully and stood up, holding out a hand in truce. You held your hand back and stared at him, “What- err, why are you looking for me?”
The man -Conner- sighed, “There’s a bounty on your head for your arrival to the meeting in the End.”
“Why am I going to a meeting in the end?”
“You know-”
“I really don’t.”
You walked over to a wall and swung your pickaxe at the compact sand, It broke one by one and Conner soon joined your efforts to get out. You two worked in silence, stepping onto every block as it broke and soon the high sun shone through the surface.
Conner crawled out of the hole and reached out his hand. You took it and looked around, the sand pit you fell through was several blocks away and you all but dove onto the ground, rolling over with your back on hot sand and your face to the sun.
Conner sat down and wrapped his arms around his bent legs. You closed your eyes and sighed contently. “How you been, man?”
He looked over languidly before lying down and clasping his hands together over his stomach, “Been good, I got a job in Herobrines….army? I guess.”
“How?”
“Was following a myth Entity 303-”
You were watching his expressions and latched onto the slight smile that appeared.
Interesting.
“Before I uh….got to the Nether and then nearly died before the glitch himself saved my ass from dying, pledged to fulfill my death, yada yada yada, three seconds later we met, you died, and now I’m here. What I’m wondering is, what’s been happening and what has happened with you?” He ran through his rundown, not giving you much new information.
Your head lulled back to bear the heat of the run which was now starting to slink towards the horizon, great, a full day wasted.
“What do you mean?”
He hesitated, “Well, you know, I haven’t seen you since you died and it was a bit of a shock to hear you were still alive, but it did explain a lot.”
You rolled your eyes and wiped your forehead, “....I died….and then came back, I don’t think that qualifies as ‘still’ being alive, but that aside, specifics dude, I need specifics before we melt into the sand.”
“So you’ve met Herobrine, right?”
“.....” The question left you speechless in its stupidity
He repeated the question with a slight purse of his lips that gave away his mirth at your face, “Have you met him?”
“Yes, dumbass, he introduced us.”
“Did you ever kill each other?”
“No- Well, he killed me once by accident but other than that no, doesn’t mean I didn’t try.”
“What?”
“He didn’t mean to.”
“That’s not what I- nevermind. Are you two together?”
“No, why? You wanna fuck him?”
“What?! NO!”
“Oh that’s right, you wanna fuck Entity, silly me.”
His panicked face was delightful to watch as he spluttered to deny. He regained composure after a few seconds and took a breath, “Are you two friends or somethin?”
“Don’t know, I kinda dipped on him a while back but I do like to pop in every once a while to leave a sign somewhere, tell me, has he found any?”
“What, you think the big bossman shares his personal life with us?”
“I don’t know what he does anymore, from what I’ve heard, he visited the overworld recently and went swimming in the ocean with Steve.”
“He did what now?”
You laughed, the sound carefree as you finally relaxed and Conner groaned, realizing he was fooled.
As the pair of you talked, the time flew by and the moon quickly made its appearance in the sky, dimly illuminating the land below it. Conner finally stood up and you realized just how much time had passed but the mobs were staying away. Must’ve been some ‘champion’ protection thing.
Conner held his hand out once more and you took it, heaving yourself off the ground and brushing off the sand that stuck to your clothes and skin.
A click echoed in your brain as you registered the sound and the sudden bright glow behind you made you turn around in wonder.
There stood a fully made Nether portal with Conner leaning on a pillar. The alluring swirls of purple dancing with ribbons of pink drew you in and you found yourself walking closer, but Conner stepped in front you and grabbed your shoulders.
“Beautiful in’it?”
He turned himself around and stared at the portal. Conner covered your eyes with his hand and your mind cleared. You shook your head a little bit and Conner stepped away, jumping into the portal.
You glanced back, contemplating escape for a brief moment before allowing a small smile to appear as you gripped the wall, pushing yourself in.
the farlands are literally the coolest thing in any game ever im so upset mojang ever took it out of the minecraft. noones ever gonna reach that far out into the world under normal circumstances what was the point of removing it???
i really hope a farlands biome or something is added into minecraft one day…
It's typically quiet and peaceful in most Minecraft biomes. If you pay attention, though, you can truly enjoy the atmospheres of the peaceful.
Deserts are usually very quiet, but about half of the time you'll hear wind blazing through. If you're very quiet, you can even hear birds flying above, or smaller animals moving near you.
Pale oak forests are also quiet, but too quiet. You can hear your own heartbeat when you enter, you hear no birds, no wind. It's as if the air is dead. If you go with a group, it suddenly gets harder to hear each other. You could try talking louder; but something feels inherently wrong with that. It feels as if you should whisper.
In contrast to that, cherry blossom biomes are usually pretty lively. You can always hear at least 2 different kinds of birds, and if you're particularly quiet you can even hear the quiet buzzing of bees or the clicking of cicadas.
