Can we just talk about how beautiful some the concept art for Rabbids: Mission to Mars was.

Enjoy this not so great rabbid infection au concept.

(Trigger warning for the mentions of death, murder, gore, body horror violence, parasites, diseases and a bit of OOC writing.)

Okay, so the name of the au I came up with is called "Rabbids infection: dementophobia" (I'm not the best at coming up with names. Forgive me) and the plot of the au would go a little something like this: Taking place after the events of Mission to Mars with the martian king and the humans going their separate ways, the rabbids (Scribbles, Disco, Mini, Cosmo, etc) are living on the island having a normal day (well at least the most normal day you could have when you're on an island of rabbids) and Scribbles is also trying to keep Nebula frozen at all cost, so he wouldn't end up escaping and Olivia trusted Scribbles enough to keep him frozen. (seeming that in the movie, the freeze ray wore off on the scuba rabbid after a while.)

One night though, Nebula unfreezes and somehow manages to escape from the island to Antarctica without getting caught (not sure how yet probably a raft) where he hides in a small abandoned research facility spending most of his time thinking about how the rabbids "ruined his life and reputation" but then one day while looking around in the ice he discovers an unknown parasite and unknowingly infects himself with the parasite causing his body to mutate and deform into something hideous, grotesque and deadly. Fortunately though since he was in the artic which is a very cold place it causes the parasite and him to slowly enter a stasis like state (similar to reptiles) but before he ended up in stasis, he saw a flying yellow submarine and inside were rabbids, the same creatures who ruined his life and when one of the rabbids hits the artic floor, Nebula sends some parasites to infect two unsuspecting rabbids before he ended up in stasis, creating patient 1 and 2.

Now, this is a good time to explain how the infection works and the history of the parasite before we continue the story.

You see, this parasite is as old as the "ancient ancestors" of the rabbids, in the age of when rabbids were intelligent beings (like Scribbles/Lapinibernatus) who's own ancestors conquered the ancient earth and had a rich society, the parasite was just mostly seen as a nuance to them because they mostly evolved to develop immunity against the parasite because unlike the rabbids of today who have high metabolism and waste a lot of energy doing crazy activities, ancient rabbids have lower metabolism due to the fact they focused their time on learning and evolving and because of their lower metabolism they had a lot of energy stored in them to help combat the parasite with the only worse thing it could do was make an ancient rabbid vomit it out like a hairball but they still end up fine after that.

In ancient rabbid folklore, it was believed that the parasite was actually a deceitful god turned into one as punishment and that one day he will try to get revenge through his spawn but only for a special rabbid to defeat them known as "the chosen prophet" but of course the parasite isn't actually a god or a descendant of a god. Eventually, all good things had to come to an end when an ice age came and ended up wiping out the ancient rabbids and due to it being too cold for the parasite to survive and a lack of a compatible host they all ended up dying except for one parasite who managed to stay in stasis for millions of years (which is unusual since they could only stay in statis for so long and depending on how cold it is it could kill them especially artic levels of temperatures but surprisingly this one managed to stay alive for a centuries.) until of course Nebula discovered it and got infected started the dementophobia infection and since the modern rabbids don't have any ancient traits including their immunity to the virus, they're more proceptible to the parasite and depending on how warm the temperature of the place they live in is, the infection could speed up.

Dementophobia (Rabbid ver)

Stage 1:

Slight stomach ache that's mostly bearable.

Small headaches but not noticeable to most.

Eyes look a tad bit of a bluish purple but it's not noticeable yet.

Fur is more rougher than usual.

Procedure: Safely get the rabbid quarantined in a cell as soon as possible.

Stage 2:

Stomachache starts to hurt more.

Headaches are more present.

Eyes take on a more red purplish color.

They start to get stressed and paranoia starts to creep in.

Fur loss starts to happen due to stress.

Claws which are usually hidden away in a rabbid's paw starts to come out and get unusually longer.

Fever like symptoms starts appearing.

Back feels sore.

Procedure: Just like stage 1 carefully get the rabbid quarantined but just with some extra protection.

Stage 3:

Stomachache starts to hurt to the point where it becomes unbearable.

Headaches become migraines

Eyes start becoming more red and less purple.

Stress gets intense and for the rare few it becomes aggression early on.

Half of their fur is gone because of stress.

Claws are half way out and more longer.

Fever symptoms dissappear a bit.

Spine starts to grow making the rabbid taller.

Warts, lumps and bumps start to grow on their body, some warts also tend to sometimes look like horns similar to shope papilloma.

They start to have hallucinations and depending on the hallucination it make them docile for a short period, aggressive, sad, etc.

Constant drooling.

Procedure: Stage 3 is unpredictable, so if they're aggressive, you'll have to fight them. If they're docile, then carefully catch them before they flee. After containment, it's preferred if they're put in cryo-stasis at a specific cold temperature so it slows down the infection and parasite but doesn't kill the patient since the parasite is in their body.

Stage 4:

Stomachache is now constant hunger.

Migraines still linger.

Eyes are permanently red.

Aggressive all the time.

Fur is completely gone.

Claws are all the way out.

Signs of Scoliosis appear as they get even taller.

Most Warts, lumps and bumps are now huge and some full of grayish black puss and parasite eggs except for the horn shaped warts, which only have gotten bigger but they're now more hard.

Intense Hallucinations.

Constant drooling out a mixture of saliva and blackish red blood.

They developed some strength.

Procedure: At this point in the infection it's better to kill the rabbid because it's too late to save a rabbid once they entered this stage due to the fact the parasite's virus reached the brain and has caused unrepairable damage to the body.

Stage 5:

Always hungry.

Migraines

Eyes permanently red.

Constant aggression.

Claws are very sharp.

At this point they reached their peak height at 5'0 inches.

Some of the warts and bumps have bursted while most others are still intact with the young parasites just squirming around in the bump/wart or just trying to bite out and making small holes to slip out of.

Intense hallucinations.

Constantly drooling out a mixture of saliva and blackish red blood.

They start to get weaker again.

Eventually when the rabbid loses most of it's energy depending on the amount they have, they will become dead.

Procedure: Just like stage 4, it's best to kill the rabbid to end their suffering.

Dementophobia (Human ver)

Stage 1:

Slight stomach ache that's mostly bearable.

Small headaches that aren't noticeable yet.

Eyes hurt a bit.

Hair is a little bit thinner than usual.

Procedure: Before you go to quarantine the person, ask them how they feel and make sure that it's something different and not the infection and make sure to get them check up by a medical professional before jumping to conclusions and make sure to carefully guide them.

Stage 2:

Stomachache starts to hurt more.

Headaches are still present.

Eyes start to bulge out a bit.

Stress and paranoia start to creep in.

Hair loss starts to happen due to stress from the parasite.

Fingernails become more dense and grayish.

They start to vomit out bits and chunks of their organs since they're not as durable as the rabbids.

Fever like symptoms.

Back feels sore.

Warts and bumps filled with grayish black puss appear on their body which are very tiny and appear more early than rabbids since yet again humans are not as durable as the rabbids.

Procedure: Make sure to carefully guide into quarantine and then have them put into cryo-stasis so it slows down the infection and the parasite since humans are very vulnerable to the infection.

Stage 3:

Unbearable stomach aches become hunger.

Eyes are completely bulged out.

For most humans, stress and paranoia become aggression.

Some of their hair is gone.

Fingernails are now bigger and some of them fall off.

They still vomit on occasions.

Fever symptoms dissappear a bit.

The spine grows a bit and cause the human to get taller but since the spine is fragile it could sometimes break in half.

Most of the warts and bumps have already bursted with unhatched eggs slipping out.

Some infected are weaker, some rarer ones are stronger.

Since humans are not as durable as rabbids, most of them end up dying in this stage with only 4% of them managing to make it to stage 4 and none ever making it to stage 5 and beyond. (*Cough* Except for Frank. *Cough Cough*)

Procedure: It's better to kill the infected human since the virus has already reached the brain, making it too late to save the person and the damage caused to the body is irreversible.

Stage 4:

Constant hunger.

One or both of their eyes have bulged out and exploded of their sockets.

Constant aggression.

Most of their hair is gone

Most of their fingernails are ripped off.

They don't have much weight on the body since they vomit out most of their organs.

Scoliosis starts to develop as the spine grows the infected person to roughly 7'6 inches causing them to hunch.

Holes, big and small form all around the body where the warts and bumps once reside.

Stage 4 infected usually have a some strength but eventually they'll lose it quickly.

Death.

Procedure: Just like stage 3 it's better to kill them then to let them suffer.

Now that we got that out of the way back to the story.

As I said before, Nebula ends up infecting two rabbids before going into stasis and the rabbid duo enters back inside the submarine and they both end up falling ill with Mad and Secure-X having to examine them and the other rabbids notice it and worry a bit but most of them including Mad and Secure-X brush it off and the reason why Secure-X is also strangely brushing it off is because since Secure-X was made in Scribbles' time he was programmed with some knowledge on ancient rabbid biology but not on modern rabbid biology plus as much as he would want to get an idea of what modern rabbid biology is like, he respects their privacy and is still programmed to follow orders except on occasions where things are becoming dangerous so he can't really go around and just randomly examine their biology without permission and rabbids aren't the best at staying still either, so even though Secure-X kinda brushed it off thinking the rabbid would be fine, he's kinda worried since he's not sure if they still even have the immunity to the parasite's virus so he's not entirely oblivious to both of the rabbid's condition.

As a couple of days past by the infection starts to escalate and the rabbid duo starts to mutate and become aggressive and some of the rabbids are starting to be scared of them, while some others taunt them in front of the cell windows for fun. But then one of the rabbids accidentally released one of the infected and they start going on a rampage and ends up killing and eating some of the rabbids and then out of panic Mad releases the door and ends up releasing the infected rabbid into the city during a very intense heatwave and some of the rabbids end up falling out of the submarine as well, ending up having to defend for themselves.

Before Mad and Secure-X could pursue the infected rabbid, it turned out during the rampage the submarine got badly damaged to the point it lost it's ability to go at hyperspeed and Mad and Secure-X tried to fix it but they couldn't get it to fully work, so Secure-X tells Mad that they have to use the last of the submarine's energy to slowy travel to the island where Scribbles currently lives on since he's the one with the knowledge to fix a certain area of the submarine that even Secure-X wasn't given knowledge of since it would be dangerous for a robot like him to fix and at first Mad's a little bit reluctant and tries to fix the area himself but then after many failed attempts and getting electrocuted, he gives in and travels to the island.

Meanwhile on the island Scribbles is very worried ever since a few weeks ago Frank Nebula managed to escape and with nothing about where Frank is and early on the first week of him being gone he manages to contact Olivia through a communication device he made along with the translation device for her to understand him and he tells her about his disappearance causing her to worry a bit especially since now she's the new Ceo of Nebulous labs and then as the weeks go by they slowly forget about Frank a bit but they both still have him lingering in their minds still wondering where he escaped too. Anyways a few weeks later Scribbles was doing things on the island like read, study and spending some time with some of the rabbids like Disco, Mini and Cosmo, then he hears a noise and sees the brutally damaged submarine appearing and landing on the island.

Mad, Secure-X and a few other rabbids come out and Mad tells Scribbles that a certain area of the submarine needed to fixed and Scribbles already knows what Mad means and tells him to lead away to area and as Scribbles past by the parts of the submarine he notices a cell with the infected rabbid and recognizes the parasite remembering it just only being an nuance to his stomach but now for some reason the parasite is back and is somehow mutating a rabbid and Mad tells him that the rabbid got the parasite after they left the artic and Scribbles wants to go run tests on them but Mad doesn't want to because he wants to be doing all the testing but then Scribbles decides to focus on fixing the area first then have the discussion on what to do with the infected.

When Scribbles is done fixing the submarine, however, the infected rabbid escapes from containment and ends up going around and eating, and killing half of the rabbids on the island. Scribbles panics tries to pack everything and evacuate every single surviving rabbid on the submarine including Cosmo and Disco but Mini gets lost in the chaos since they're so small it's hard to notice them. While Scribbles tries to save Mini, he ends up having half of his right ear ripped clean off in the process. Once everyone is on the submarine they fly away from the island and travel to the mainland only to find rabbids and humans infected with the parasite and Mad reveals to Scribbles that there was another infected that he accidentally released and Scribbles rightfully gets angry at him but then he realizes that it's too late to stop it now and he's got to save the people he cares for. So he manages to find John on one of the sunny love beach sets trying to fight off the infected and they manage to get John in the submarine along with Rodger Peacock and the last remaining crew members and actors. Then he goes to the formerly called Nebulous labs now under a new name I hadn't come up with yet and notices the place is all boarded up and protected with powerful technology and Scribbles manages to get in contact with Olivia again and allows Scribbles to bring everyone inside the building where there are some more people and rabbids inside.

Eventually Olivia tells Scribbles that there's not going to be enough room for more survivors soon and that they're currently getting in contact with the government to help create survivor bases to save as many people as they can and since Scribbles was starting to become more well-known because of the Mars incident and his intelligence, he decided to also help out get in contact with the government with info on the parasite by using the translator device he made and eventually after a month of trying to survive the infected, news of survivor bases being made arrived and planes and helicopters take most of the survivors to the base, while Scribbles and Mad take the people they know on the submarine to Antarctica as well.

As time goes on the bases start to develop more and more as certain roles are assigned to humans and rabbids (which will be a whole separate post in the future) and more survivors are found on the mainland by the rescue teams and brought to Antarctica and other bases. Scribbles also tells the government about the pretzel island and allows them to build more bases on the island since it's so well hidden that it took a very powerful compass to even find it much to the dismay of Mad who kinda wanted the island for himself. Both Antarctic bases and Pretzel bases are also segregated by humans and rabbids since there's still a lot a stigma on rabbids especially ever since the infection with Scribbles managing the rabbid areas of the Antarctic bases, Bridget Barnes managing the human Antarctic bases and Olivia running the entire Pretzel island base.

The rest of the au is probably going to be about the typical plot of finding the cure and the person who caused this, along with Scribbles being immune and trying to find out if his blood could be used to make the cure, maybe I might have Disco get infected for angst, I don't know. I might also make a post about the surviving people on the mainland and the different clans that have been created in the apocalyptic world.

That's all I have for now, I'm sorry if it was too long. This is my first time making an infection, au, so I didn't know how to format a few things. As always I would like to hear what you all think of this au and I would also like some constructive criticism because it could really help me a lot on making the Au the best as I can be able to, I'll also be accepting inbox questions as well.

Because I'm sleep deprived and why the hell not

Mad is VERY hyperactive and cannot sit still to save his life, he's always fidgeting or moving a little. He often tends to speak really fast when he gets excited about something, much to Nerdy's annoyance

Nerdy is Mad's first assistant to actually stay around him for longer than a week, most of the others would've run off out of fear or because they didn't want to become a lab rat. Mad doesn't know whether Nerdy stuck around because he likes him or out of stupidity and this will never cease to fascinate him (in truth it's a mix of both)

Yes there besties and you cannot change my mind, I'm very normal about their dynamic (lying)

I've said this before but Non Binary Mini

Nerdy didn't need glasses before the Mole-Rabbid incident but now he does, and is practically blind without them

Yes, he can still transform into Mole Rabbid, but he doesn't do it as often (HE SHOULD'VE DONE IT IN THE SEASON FOUR FINALE)

Lapini likes tea, and Mad prefers coffee, they have and will fight over this

Season four took place before the movie, and the stupidity thing just...wore off or something

At some point I may rewrite the season four finale cuz it kinda sucked no offense

The Mars gang sticks together after the events of the movie, sort of all staying together in scribbles little lab thing on that one island, John and Olivia visit sometimes too!

Lapini villain arc would be cool though

Mad is a chronic insomniac and will refuse to sleep unless he passes out in the middle of doing something, Nerdy has and will drug his coffee with NyQuil so he actually sleeps for once

One of the first things Lapini did in the lab was uncover his old translator from the series so he could have a proper conversation with Olivia

Less a headcanon and more of a parallel, but concept art reveals Lapini's lab in the movie is made from a half-dismantled helicopter, and since Mad's lab is in a school bus they both have labs made in/from scrapped vehicles!

Cosmo still dreams of being an astronaut sometimes, if he ever gets a room or something he'd fill it with glow in the dark stars

Lapini is claustrophobic

Nerdy still gets Mole-Rabbid instincts sometimes, he becomes more alert if he were to ever go underground, and his eyes glow ever so slightly in the dark

He also has retractable mole claws now! He's accidentally scratched more countertops than he can count with them lmao

Mad has absolutely horrible social skills. Mf has no sense of boundaries and cannot pick up on any social cues, also isn't really good at reading others emotions, which is why he sometimes goes too far with teasing or other things

Speaking of teasing! Mad LOVES to tease Lapini, and the two have a sort of one sided rivalry, Lapini doesn't want anything to do with Mad and Mad is determined to one-up Lapini at every little thing he does

Mainly because Lapini is the only other Rabbid Mad has found that can match his own intelligence, Lapini also sees this but sees Mad as impulsive, reckless, and a general disgrace to science

Mad doesn't hate Lapini though, quite the opposite really! He does enjoy being around him but only knows how to do so through competition and teasing, which he doesn't know is bothering Lapini as much as it is lmao

If we ever get a season five or another movie I NEED to see an plot where Lapini and Mad are forced to work together and learn they're not actually so different, please that would be so cool

Another wip but got the idea I wanted for them done! Now I think about @minnesotamedic186 said and it makes sense with both mini and scribbles,

I had to look at ref for these rabbids outfits since I wanted to fit the planet they’re in ya know? So:

Disco: having her 80s like fit but would probably host dance parties with Dj cheep tuna, them being super close friends and always thinking of other fun events they can do on beacon beach

Scribbles was a Bit inspo of Dr.Vent with the jacket, also added the mask since in the movie he wore it as a disguise to make his way in to the space ship, I know I said he would be good friends with Woodrow [still want to] but I feel he would also love to be friends with orian and hear his space journey and read all the books in the library and understand more about these plants and Mario’s world <:]

Mini wearing a farmer like fit with some leaves on him since most rabbids have a theme with that, I might also make him a pocket with acorns in them so he can just have them around. He’s also pals with sweetie and dryad and loves how every rabbid treats him as a regular person….even though he is horrified of Woodrow bc of his looks

Cosmo being very clumsy and protected by the rabbids and momma! He wears a mechanic fit and understanding how things work…also I like to think momma treats him with extra care and it gets Cosmo way too hard since he never had a figure that loves him that much [/p] but he tried to hold in his weakness and becomes stronger like the other rabbids which is why I also gave him a headband and removed his bandages since he’s ready to start a new leaf

Even if these 4 are in different planets I love to think they see each other in floral terra and stay their for a while… course they miss each other especially when scribbles and disco see each other since I like to think their a couple and miss each other every single day <:] tomorrow hopefully I can start line art but if ya have any comments please don’t be shy to ask!!
