So, months ago I made an Amelia doll and said I’d be making one of Minuete as well. Ages of procrastinating later and I’ve actually finished it.
Minuete is one of the main characters from Revolution 60, a game I have very... complicated feelings about. You can read my first impression of it here. I’ll probably write more about it in the very near future, since even though the game can easily be considered a failure (it failed to amass a fanbase and didn’t sell well) it’s an utterly fascinating failure, and I actually... kinda like it. Then again, I like a lot of things I can easy admit aren’t that good.
I first tried making her face months ago and wanted to do a bug-eyed antennae version. It looked awful. The bug eyes just don’t look good on this type of doll head, and the glue for the eyes. got. EVERYWHERE. I guess I lucked out with Amelia when I got the eyes to stay in place while the glue dried. So after shelving this disaster for several months, I decided to return to it and give her a normal face-up. I ripped out the antennae, brushed out some of the hair gel I’d applied months ago, removed the eyes, and scraped off the gobs and gobs of glue gunk that had accumulated on her face. Ugh.
Making the new eyes was easy, I just had to use hue/saturation in GIMP to change the previously-made Amelia eye set orange. Printed them out on clear sticker paper, cut them out, applied white ink to the back, and boom. Ready to go. Thankfully this time I had super glue that dries pretty instantly, so I didn’t have a problem applying the eyes.
The dress designing and production was easier than Amelia’s, but much more tedious. Every little rectangle was hand-sewed together. I had the same issue as with Amelia’s outfit; I realized the dress was too short as I was making it and had to add more material to the bottom. I did use a really neat sci-fi looking black vinyl fabric I found at JoAnn’s. Everything except the garter is removable.
Minuete is not for sale. I said earlier that I didn’t plan on making any other characters... but that might change. This new glue is really versatile and fast-drying, and I could make Holiday or Valentina if I printed the fine details of their outfits on sticker paper and glued it on.
