As much as I would Lila’s character to be redeemed in the second arc (cause right now there is a lot of unwanted hate for her spiraling around the fandom) to become a hero and a fully fledged Miraculous wielder in Season 2, I'm also starting to like the idea of Alya becoming the chosen one of the Fox Miraculous that’s been circling around the tag for some days now since the season finale...
That being said, you know what would be cool? If we had two Volpinas or a hero and villain who both share the same fox theme.
On one end, we have a fox villain who returns as the musical illusionist known as Volpina who is an accomplice of Hawkmoth whereas on the other end, we have a fox-themed heroine who joins our dynamic duo of Ladybug and Chat Noir in the daily battle to save Paris. Wouldn't that be a nice cool twist?
Though the chances of this actually becoming canon in the series, still I like this idea enough to support it as an AU. I really love the idea of Alya becoming a hero and Miraculous user. It would fit a lot with what happened in the series. After all, in Origins, due to personality, Marinette was willing to give the Ladybug Miraculous to Alya because she thought she would be a better suitor to wear the mask of Ladybug.
Not to mention that it was Alya who helped Marinette to snap out of her insecure bubble and finally jump into action. Not only that, but she additionally assisted in Ladybug and Chat in taking down Stone Heart the first time by jumping in to help Ladybug turn on the hose to activate her Luck Charm.
And let’s not forget that it was the very thought of Alya’s life being put in danger that forced Marinette to fully assume the mantle of Ladybug. Alya was Marinette’s motivation for becoming a hero. I can understand why so many fans love the idea of Alya becoming a hero because truth be told, she has played quite a vital role in Ladybug’s development.
She has such a strong, determined, spunky personality that she would make quite a nice candidate to becoming a Miraculous wielder and a superheroine.
I think it would be awesome to have two foxes---one good and one evil. I remember reading some information on Japanese mythology where there were two kinds of fox spirits---- good fox spirits (called zenko) and malevolent fox spirits (called nogistune). It would be REALLY interesting to see something like that play off in Miraculous Ladybug. Good Fox vs Bad Fox. Zenko vs. Nogistune. Fox Hero vs Fox Villain.
Like what if...
In Season 2, Volpina comes back as this really powerful villain; stronger and much more dangerous than she was in Season 1. Let’s say in Season 2, Volpina gains the ability to manipulate people’s minds and make them see whatever she wants them to see to the point that the victim actually believes her illusions are real. With an ability like that, it’d be difficult for Ladybug and Chat Noir to poof away Volpina’s deceptions this time. Not even Lucky Charm and Cataclysm would be enough to stop it because how can you stop something that’s inside your head.
This then forces our heroic duo to have no choice but to find someone worthy enough to activate thhe Fox Miraculous----cause it was the only thing powerful enough to counteract Volpina’s newly strengthened powers.
But to our heroes surprise, according to Master Fu, it appears they had already met the Fox Miraculous’ chosen one. If not in real life but in another form---meaning that the Fox Wielder was akumatized previously but was eventually purified by Ladybug.
Even the darkest of villains can rise up to become the most heroic of heroes. So the first few episodes of the season would be focused on Ladybug and Chat Noir working with Master Fu to figure out which one of the 20+ people they purified in the past might become their newest team member. In order to stop Volpina and the growly dangers of her powers, they’d have no choice to find this suitor and quickly. But little do they know, the chosen one may just be closer to them than they realized.
I’m really loving the idea. While I doubt it will happen in the canonically in the series (after all, the previous Fox Miraculous wielder she looked exactly like Lila so...there is a stronger possibility that she would ultimately be redeemed as a hero even if she does return as a villain), nonetheless this would make an awesome AU.
A Tail of Two Foxes. The Fox Hero and a Fox villain. One good and one evil. One named Volpina (Lila) and the other...well I’m not sure what the fandom are calling Alya in her new heroic form but for my own personal AU, I would dub hero Alya as Lady Renard.
Renard is the French word for ‘fox’ and adding Lady before it as a nice nod Alya’s previous Akuma villain title.
Akumatized Villain Alya = Lady Wifi Fox Miraculous Wilder Hero Alya = Lady Renard
I like the ring of how that sounds. But Lady Renard is what I would call Hero Alya! I don’t know if she has an official name or if the fandom just call her Volpina since in their version, she is the one and only Volpina; not Lila.
However in my version of the AU, both Volpina and Lady Renard exist on opposing sides. They both share similarities in terms of their costume design and even the same kind of weapon (a flute that grants them the power to create illusions). But I’d imagine that as a Miraculous user, Lady Renard’s illusionary abilities will be far more superior to Volpina’s. Hence the reason why Ladybug and Chat Noir would need her the most to take Volpina down.
So far in the series, we have never had a recurring villain before. So....as much as I would love to see Lila redeemed and Volpina become a hero, ironically enough I also wouldn’t mind the idea of her becoming a recurring villain and a chief accomplice/servant to Hawkmoth. Not only would it be a nice intriguing twist to the story but it would also help to sell the concept of a Fox Hero to contrast the rising Fox Villain.
All in all, I’m starting to like this AU---A Tail of Two Foxes (Volpina and Lady Renard) and I thank the fandom for inspiring it. REALLY like this idea now.
