Ahh!! thank you for the ask!
15. What book changed your life?
Oh man, that’s a hard one. I’m going to go with the most recent book(s). That would be the Captive Prince trilogy by CS Pacat. They are masterfully written books with beautifully complicated and complex characters and relationships. I aspire to write as beautifully as CS Pacat. Though if you’re interested in reading them, definitely check the trigger warnings first and maybe talk to someone whose read them if you want more details, because there are a lot of sensitive issues and topics in the books. (Talk to me if you want. I am nice and friendly and will warn you about what parts come where, and that chapter 10 of book 1 is not at all what you think.) (Also, Les Miserables would totally also be the answer to this question, but I technically haven’t finished the book yet.)
This is another difficult one (mostly because I haven’t thought about it before, but I have thought about summer). I’m going to say either A Game of Thrones (or one of the other books in the series, I just read this last year over winter break and plan on reading the second one this winter) or a Harry Potter book. It depends on what kind of mood you’re in. (For the Harry Potters, right now books 4-6 feel attractive to me in terms of Christmas-y/holiday-y-ness if that’s what you’re looking for, but really all the books have great Christmases, I just tend to prefer certain ones at certain times based on my mood.)
35. Name a book you consider to be terribly underrated
I’m going to say two actually. Tell the Wind and Fire by Sarah Rees Brennan. I mean, I was attracted to it because it’s a magical dystopian retelling of one of my favorite books, A Tale of Two Cities, but it’s actually amazing in its own right?? and I never see anyone talking about it??? Same thing with The Summer Prince by Alaya Dawn Johnson. This one’s even more incomprehensible to me because it’s got all POC characters and lots of queer characters and a polyamorous character (it sounds like it has a love triangle but I swear it does not) and it’s set in futuristic Brazil and it’s so cool!!! Both these books are so cool and amazing!!! Read them!!!
