Laxus yawned as he walked into the rowdy guild. The bright lights contrasted to the dark night outside, blinding him temporarily.
It was late, almost midnight in fact. He was ready to go to bed but he hadn't stopped at the guild to pick a mission yet. He had just been getting by for the past few days with little money, and he would never ask anybody for loans.
Not even his comrade Freid, who would give him his whole wallet if he just asked for a couple of jewels. Laxus strolled over to the mission board and raked his eyes over the combination of papers.
He instantly spotted an S class mission that sounded like it was pretty easy for his abilities.
Not to mention it paid well. He tore it off the board and took a seat on an empty bar stool. Mira was busy serving food to a greedy Natsu Dragneel, while Lucy just sighed as she shook her head.
Mira set the food on his table and trotted behind the bar. She walked up to the Lightning Dragon Slayer. She gave him a gentle smile and moved some of her glossy white hair out of her face.
"Hello Laxus, how are you tonight?" She hummed.
Laxus shrugged and muttered an "Alright."
She hated when Laxus gave her one worded answers, always being so distant and moody. Mira frowned but continued.
" What can I get you?" Mira asked, sweetly.
"Nothing. Just wanted to take a mission." Laxus replied, calmly.
He slid the tainted paper across the bar table towards her. Mira tilted her head in confusion.
"You're going to go out on a mission this late Laxus? I'm sure the one who wanted the mission completed isn't even awake now-"
She was cut off by Laxus's stern words.
"I'm going to leave for the mission first thing in the morning. I'm not going to go out of my way to head for the guild tomorrow morning." He replied looking away.
"Oh…I understand Laxus. I'll get right to it!" She chirped sweetly.
Then she paused and stared at Laxus. Her eyebrows furrowed as she concentrated very intently on something.
"Oh!" Laxus noticed a slight blush on Mira's cheeks.
"Sorry for staring. I just noticed how long your hair was!" She chuckled.
Laxus frowned as he touched the hair that was dangling in front of his face. She was right. It had been getting bothersome for the past couple of weeks, but he would never ask anyone to cut it. I mean, who could he trust to not to screw it up?
"I could cut it. I mean, I cut Lisanna's hair when it gets too long all the time." Mira suggested with an excited grin on her face.
"No thanks." Laxus replied immediately.
Mira frowned."Whhaatt? Why not! I am really good at cutting hair, you know! It will look really handsome too, I bet!"
Laxus raised an eyebrow at her statement, as he watched Mira flush a bit.
"I mean, yes. It will look really nice on you!" She smiled.
He didn't miss her pause of awkwardness. Laxus sighed. He did need it cut. And she must have had experience before. After all Mira was really handy with things such as this.
"Fine. Do you have time now?" Mira's eyes gleamed in excitement as she pulled him off his stool and led him to a room at the back of the guild.
"This is the storage room, you know." Laxus replied with a deadpan expression, as he saw Mira standing there with a calm smile on her face.
"Yes Laxus, I know." Mira replied.
"Then why the hell are we here!?"
Mira placed her hands on her hips in a defiant pose.
" Because the guild doesn't have a specific place to cut hair you know."
Laxus rolled his eyes as Mira pulled a wooden chair out from the corner of the room. She then grabbed a comb, and some scissors.
She winked as she cooed,"Come on Laxus! I have really good skills so no need to worry!"
Laxus was hesitant for a moment, but in the end he gave in. When he sat down, Mira started combing his hair.
"Wow Laxus! When was the last time you combed your hair?" Mira giggled.
Laxus scoffed. "I don't have time to be combing my hair everyday like the guys in Blue Pegasus, you know. I have better things to do with my time." He retorted.
Mira chuckled in amusement at his words. Laxus felt butterflies by just the sound of her laughter. He wanted to hear it again.
"You have really beautiful blond hair, you know that Laxus?" Mira commented as she took a strand of his hair and straightened it out to cut it. Laxus felt a blush rise to his cheeks at her words.
" Yeah, well just don't mess it up alright?"
"Of course Laxus. Well not on purpose anyway."Mira giggled.
"What!" Laxus's eyes widened.
"Just kidding, just kidding! Geez Laxus, you sure are energetic today."
He said nothing as he sat in silence with just his thoughts. It actually felt kind of nice to be taken care of for once, even though he didn't want to admit it to himself.
It was actually really soothing to get his hair cut. He had just realized Mira had really delicate hands. For a demon.
"Laxus I'm done!" Mira stood back and admired her work.
She had looked at the floor and saw a lot of stray blond hair, but that was the least of her worries. She grinned approvingly at her handywork.
The hair was no longer long and wavy, but cut slightly into a buzz. She brushed her hair through his short soft hair. She heard slight snoring and she smiled when she saw Laxus sleeping. He was so cute like this.
He was so quiet and he looked so carefree. She brushed her fingers over his chiseled jaw and smiled. She always felt so calm with Laxus. Like...she could be herself.
She felt like she wouldn't have to put on a brave face all the time when she was around Laxus. She had forgiven Laxus after everything he had done to Fairytail. She could see he had truly changed. He had tried his best, and that was all she could ask for. After all, he wasn't the only one that went down the wrong path at one point in time.
Mira jumped slightly as she felt firm, rough hands gripping her wrist. Laxus slowly opened his eyes, and his green ones pierced into her soft blue ones.
It felt like they had been lost in each other's eyes for hours, even though it was less than a minute. Laxus glanced from her entrancing eyes to her soft pink lips. Mira unconsciously moved closer until they could feel each other's warm breath on each other's necks.
They were suddenly interrupted by the metal door of the storage room swinging open. They instantly backed apart and swung their heads towards the noise. There was Lisanna, standing in the doorway panting.
"There...you are!" She gasped,trying to catch her breath."I have been looking everywhere for you, Mira! Master wants to see you in his office right away!"
Mira put her pale hands over her mouth as she apologized profusely. She hurried towards the door before she forgot Laxus was in the room.
"Oh Laxus! I'm sorry. I have to check in with Master." She sighed.
Laxus stood up and brushed himself off.
"No problem. Go ahead. And by the way. Thanks for...you know what." Laxus shrugged, walking out the door ahead of Mira.
Mira smiled gently at Laxus.
" You're welcome. You can always come to me if you need to talk. Or get your hair cut. I will always be here." She encouraged.
Laxus walked into the guild hall with a wave of his hand as Lisanna gave Mira a knowing smile."What were you two doing in there all alone?" Lisanna cooed.
Mira shook her head and smiled." I gave Laxus an awesome haircut is all."
Laxus hid a smile as he walked out the guild's doors and into the night. For some reason he wanted to come to the guild tomorrow.
