Harvey Weinstein, a sopping bag of grease and evil, has done many terrible things in his life. Here's one of those things that most people have forgotten about.
In 2011, Weinstein brought Miral, an anti-Israel flick for a special screening at the United Nations General Assembly Hall. (Because the UN just isn't anti-Israel enough.)
Phyllis Chesler wrote up the disgusting spectacle at the time.
Scenes that depict Israeli life (e.g., classic footage from Israel’s declaration of independence and the celebrations that followed, etc.) are in black and white. All of the scenes depicting Palestinian life of any era are in lush and living color. Both Israeli soldiers and Israeli civilians are depicted as despicable, including an Israeli buffoon who drunkenly accosts Miral’s mother in a bar and an Israeli woman who calls her an “Arab whore.” All of the Palestinian characters are warm and physically beautiful.
The American Jewish Congress, hardly a right-wing group, condemned it. In response, Harvey Weinstein rolled out his usual sleazy bag of media smear tricks. The ones that his victims feared.
The right-hand page of the two-page spread is devoted to a reprint of an article titled “Why is the American Jewish Committee Afraid of ‘Miral’? ” from the Jewish Journal. The AJC protested last week’s showing of the film at the United Nations, and the implication is that the film’s opponents are mainly Jews lacking an open mind on the Palestinian issue.
Critics from a variety of ethnicities are far from taken with “Miral,” which is rating a 45 out of 100 at Metacritic — a perilously low score for a serious movie courting an adult audience.
The Jewish Journal article was by Danielle Berrin. Berrin is currently riding the anti-Harvey train, but back then she approvingly quoted his spin.
🎀 A little about my character Mirel 🎀
Mirel Alfonia
• Birthday: Leo (08/08)
• Age: 1983.
• Height: 2.20 - 160 kg.
• Special feature: Hair about 4 meters long, with a red tint. In human form, the pupil can change from round to vertical and back.
• Fun fact: She was originally born a lion, not a human, meaning she maintains the human form, not the other way around. If she runs out of power, she remains in her true form - a lioness.
Biography:
• Born into a noble family, she is considered a purebred werewolf of the leonine family. Since childhood, she has despised herself and everyone. She killed half her family, including her mother, father, one older brother, and two younger sisters. She didn't have time to reach her other relatives. She tried to kill herself, but due to her high status and good genetics in her youth, she was unable to. She spent the better part of her life killing and terrorizing various races, from humans to her own kind, inflicting cannibalism and horror on everyone for about 1,000 years. She survived in her youth due to an excess of power that she could not control. Previously, she was able to heal herself in a matter of seconds and regrow limbs in a matter of minutes, until age took its toll.
• At this point, she's been unmolested for about 500 years, simply gathering strength, knowing she's no longer as strong and young as she once was. She remains just as strong, but no longer has the same rapid regeneration she once had. (Now it takes 2/3 minutes. Limb regeneration: almost 7/10 minutes.)
• Traits (racial, non-standard physical or magical): A physically strong girl, capable of lifting over 300 kg (even at her age), but no more. Has no magical abilities other than regeneration.
• Weaknesses: She has poor eyesight as a human, but when she's in animal form, she sees perfectly thanks to her metamorphosis. She also has a scar across her waist, which is her main weakness, as it doesn't heal, meaning it can easily be ripped open or torn. The most important factor is her age. She's weak because she's already old.

For the ship asks, if we're talking deranged: Elrond/Maeglin and Míriel/Tar-Míriel?
~ @maglor-my-beloved <3
I suppose I could make Elrond/Maeglin more compelling if I were to make Maeglin more evil but... c'mon man I don't wanna do that :(
Isn't Míriel dead? isn't Tar-Míriel a numenorian queen??? I know nothing of this ship and I've never felt inclined to learn. I also know nothing of Tar-Míriel, so that doesn't help rip
feel free to learn me something about Míriel/Tar-Míriel if they are your passion tho

Tolkien Gen Week Day One: Family
1 Fourth Age
"I'll be back," I smile at Thranduil.
He frowns deeply. Only he could look adorable with a frown, but alas it won't work on me. I have seven brothers. Mostly dead but still my brothers. "But if you don't,"
We both know I’m on my second life, given to me by the Valar and the grace of Iluvatar.
"I've already been dead. Besides, the only thing I will allow to kill me is a valar and I'm fairly certain I'm in Manwe's good graces,"
Thranduil grimaces. Who else does he think? Oh. Melkor. “What of Morgoth?”
“Melkor cannot touch us from the void, the Valar made sure of that,” I trust the Valar with this. I have to believe. If I have no faith then what do I have? “And when the Dagor Dagorath comes it will be me who claims revenge. I am sure of it,”
Thranduil’s eyebrows knit together. “How—your ring,”
“Tyelpe certainly knew what he was doing when he made my ring,” My nephew knew this would enhance my natural abilities. Never would I have known about my own use of foresight. “Do not fret, I will return and I will return whole,”
“Eryn Lasgalen needs it's chief advisor,”
I roll my eyes. The workload has significantly decreased since Sauron’s defeat. If time has said anything these past two years, the amount of work I do is vital to the greenwood but others can do it if they share the load. So I can take more time to myself.
“This is not a self-imposed exile, it's not the second age,”
One hundred years of self-imposed exile. Once was enough but it taught me the freedom to do as I please is wonderous. Just as it was in Valinor. In fact, I miss it.
Today I begin a new journey. My only wish was to take it with Nanwe and Tauriel, their journey across the sea was far more important. Both to them and me.
I grab my pack and quiver, instinct takes over and I check over supplies. Earlier I sent a saddle bag to the kitchen for food. It should arrive any moment. Hopefully, it's been stocked with enough food for a month. If not I can always hunt. Turca taught me well, as did Ambarussa.
“I said I was sorry and I swore fealty to you,” Thranduil drops into the chair behind him.
“And I thank you for it, now I must go if I want to get ahead,”
I sling both my pack and quiver with its bow across my body. Then I attach my weapons, twin swords, knife and dagger. Each weapon was made by a noldo, swords from Curvo, knife by father and the dagger I made myself. All I charish deeply.
The door opens after a knock. A ladies maid pops her head in when Thranduil opens the door. She bows to her king then hands Thranduil the saddle bag. Once she’s gone I take the bag from Thranduil. He’s barely holding himself together.
I drop the bag and wrap my arms around him.
“I’ll be back. I promise.”
