There will come one who will heal he who must not break in order to restore that which is already dying,

There will come the one who must not break in order to awaken the mother of healing,

There will come one, cloaked in anger and agony, that must reshape the very waves of the ocean, re-cast the fiery depths, destroy what will be, and create a future where we live.

The mother of healing will sleep until she is needed by the heir of the awakening and will yet live until all shall be fulfilled,

And there will come one who shall rectify all and wake the sleeping, shift the buried dead, move the yet-living, and silence the Chaos.

Cyche, Tave, Typhex, Mirinah, and Hope. Cyche has to break Tave's Matrix in order to reconstruct it and heal him. Tave has to have this happen in order to find Mirinah, who will help raise Hope, who will restore order to the galaxy and restore whatever was crystallized by the virus. Each of these 5 is critically important to the history of Tirre and the history of my universe.

I didn't get all of the lyrics, but World so Cold by Three Days Grace totally fits Mirinah more than halfway through the book.

The Fall of Hope - Symbolism

I wanted a book that would have more than what was just on the surface, while also taking a rather bland title and putting a lot of meaning behind it. TFoH is more about friendship and the hope that you can store in others rather than an actual story about a girl that travels with a few mercenaries and a rather attractive military captain.

I also wanted to shove a girl that was very innocent into a world that was definitely not innocent. She never really lost that sense of innocence throughout the story, although she did go through quite a bit. There are 100 pages or so where she's completely broken. In those 100 pages, I tried to chronicle some of the thoughts you go through after facing something severely emotional, and it's something that I hope to capture as I continue to edit and write in more parts in the story.

Subconscious scaring me again.

“You're not from here, Cyche. We aren't sure where you're from."

-Kan, the very beginning of Matreci: Forsaken. Why is this scary? I wrote that about 5 months before I'd even begun working on TFoH.

Cyche was found in a cave entrance deep inside the underground caves where they've found writing they can't distinguish. The writing depicts a girl that can heal by touch, but nothing else can be learned.

Behind where they found her is a small door. Inside that door, a woman sleeps, although she appears 20 in age. Mirinah Kimsdaughter instantly heals everything. Including herself.

She's immortal. And around her in a circle are several hundred people, all of which are Mirinah's direct female descendants.

Cyche is the latest one.

"If there is anyone inside this room, I will find you." Mirinah called out loudly. Her voice didn't shake in the slightest; she was a quiet girl, but she was not a coward.

The Fall of Hope

TIMELINE OF THE UNIVERSE WITHIN MY MIND (spoilers galore)

The Fall of Hope, approximately 1800 AD Earth time.

Tirre: Mirinah is born, matures, heals, fights. Nickolai dies. Denzion and Mirinah meet. Meteor smashes into active volcano and covers the world. Denzion and Mirinah (and friends) go underground to where they are safe and have gathered food.

Approximately 200 years later on Earth: Echoings takes place; Kira sees the shadow shell and is stuck inside a time-trap.

Approximately 9 months later: Tattered Flesh takes place when 7 people are sucked into the shadow shell without knowing it.

Approximately 123 years later: -[Impact]- takes place: Siri, Devin, Ain, and Taige escape a planet with the virus onboard.

Approximately 16 years later: Rescendance takes place: Terrance finds Kira on a bed in his house. He decides to take her to find her own planet, which she feels a pull towards. 

Approximately 350 (150 after Kira is trapped) years later back on Tirre: Matreci: Forsaken takes place. Tave is born, meets Cyche, matures, breaks, dies, and then is healed by Cyche and lives again. Tave and Cyche set out to find a cavern deep inside the caves where it's rumored someone is sleeping that is mystical and wise. They find Mirinah, still alive due to her healing powers, who looks about 25. She reveals that she was the reason that everyone has a Matrix now, although it was an accident. She also reveals that Cyche is her direct descendant.

Terrance and Kira find Tirre, the planet that Tave, Cyche, and Mirinah live on. Terrance informs them that their planet is about to explode via a giant comet coming at them. Mirinah, Tave, and Cyche agree that they need to get off the planet. They return to their village and find that everyone has been killed by the Dragons that they angered a few months ago.

Mirinah, Cyche, Tave, Terrance, Kira, and Caili (whom they find alive hiding in a basement) fly back to Vita Nova.

Terrance and Max embark on a quest to travel back to Earth and detonate an anti-virus bomb which should restore the entire galaxy to how it was before the virus was introduced, ending the saga with an entire "reboot" of the galaxy.
