Mirror mirror on the wall…

So, have you ever used a mirror in your practice?

I’m sure you can make a lot of research about what you can do with a mirror and I totally want you to experiment as many things as you want so I’m not going to talk about practices with mirrors but imma talk about types of mirrors and some characteristics.

1. Some of the things I’m about to say… won’t be true for you, it depends on what type of witch you are

2. CLEANING: If you buy a used mirror from a thrift shop…and you’re willing to use it for practicing OR to put it on your altar, cleanse it. ALWAYS. (I use moon water and sage smoke, easy-peasy).

2. OPENING & CLOSING: you can open any mirror you want for working.

The only mirrors you’ll NEED to close to prevent unwanted things to “come in” are those with mercury coat (1500 a.C. Rare af and small) and those with silver coat (1700+ a.C. - mine in the pic has silver coat).

Mercury mirrors are more likely than silver ones to let things come in. Why? ‘cause silver has some more anti-shitty stuff properties ✌🏻

3. OBSIDIAN MIRRORS or ‘black mirrors"… I’ve been looking for a big one for…hmm like 16 years (nothing i like yet). Mostly used for divination.

YOU CANNOT CLOSE THEM. So be careful with what you do.

I suggest to always cover it up with a specific cloth (possibly with a nice protection sigil).

4. If you’re not sure about what kind of coat has your mirror:

- mercury: non reflective/brown-ish stains

- silver: polkadot brown stains & lil cracks

- if it’s black and heavy… it’s a black mirror (lol)

5. Broke witch tips: you don’t need expensive stuff, you can use dollar store mirrors to practice I SWEAR.

If you feel fancy…buy your mirror at the thrift shop. It’s a-ok, I promise.
