Ch215 (p2); Tales of your past and future
Fairchild has his bellhop and a housekeeper separate Modri from Sebastian.
Then Fairchild goes all enigmatic about visitors' tales becoming entangled. What if this place isn't about collecting blood... but collecting something else? Like memories?
Mr. Hall takes Modri away, and Fairchild turns his attention to the blood on the floor. Miss Hoffman, the housekeeper who put her mop between Modri and Sebastian, goes into action to clean up the mess.
I've heard of floors being so clean you can eat off them, but ew. Just because he'd be willing to lick the floor doesn't explain or excuse why he actually does it.
This "smoking room" partly reminds me of Lau's opium den... and partly reminds me of a scene in Mother3, where Lucas and pals go to Tanetane Island, where they eat mushrooms 🍄 and hallucinate, until sense is physically knocked into them. Boney, the loyal dog, is the only one who avoids the mushrooms, so he doesn't suffer the effects.
But the mention of tales from both past and future makes me think of cinematic records that show both a person's memories and their goals for their futures.
Again, I get the sense that this place is perhaps for giving Undertaker "episodes" to attach to advanced bizarre dolls' cinematic records.
Sebastian and our earl only expected the places on their list to either collect blood or not do anything of importance. The Heathfield manor and the sanatorium were primarily for blood collection, but the orphanage used everything it could from the children (blood, organs, possibly souls). And now we might be witnessing the collection of memories, thoughts, and aspirations.
One more post to go.
Chapter 218: The Butler, Enhancing
The new chapter is now out!
The English translation is available on MangaUp! and at other places too.
Ciel and Sebastian return to the Nectar Springs Hotel for dinner, and their arrival has not gone unnoticed...
It has been 46 days since the second Kuroshitsuji hiatus was announced.
Though not prone to inordinate displays of levity, Miss Hoffman gives her mop a twirl before surveying the pristine floor of the hotel lobby. Her new place of employment lacks the grandeur of Nectar Springs (which was reduced to charred rubble after the young Earl Phantomhive’s working holiday there precipitated its explosive demise), but she still derives satisfaction from a job well done. And it’s refreshing to have a supervisor who doesn’t feel compelled to lick the tiles afterwards as proof of their cleanliness.
The Brighton arc—or, as I like to call it, the DLC to Sebastian’s long-running pansexual dating sim with his fellow Kuro characters in service—is proceeding apace!
Yana while developing the minor characters in the blood collection facility mini-arcs:
“I am going to create designs that cater so blatantly to the sapphics.”
Ch215 (p3); It's all in the past
Sebastian seems quite sure this isn't the return of a previous contractor, but our earl doesn't seem convinced, since the guy knows Sebastian as a demon.
Besides, Sebastian ate their souls -- our earl puts it as devouring them -- and they aren't expecting to run into bizarre dolls as advanced as real Ciel... yet.
Surely, Sebastian could have made plenty of human enemies with grudges against him, but someone cutting themself to get his attention isn't enough for him to narrow it down. 😅
Sebastian seems to think they can pay this man off to get him to go away, but I don't think that will work.
Anyway, this smoking room will give them a good opportunity to learn what they can about this Modri guy, as well as info about the staff there, but they need to watch out for traps that could await them there.
Oh, and referring back to part two, the name Hoffman refers to a steward or property manager.
That's the end of ch215. For now, at least. It's about 1:30am here, so I need to sleep. I might have more insights tomorrow but not at the moment.
When a Kuro lady exudes such power that she’s featured on the cover of a chapter in which she doesn’t even make an official appearance.
