A week today till my first scan...
Sadness and grief is all I have to keep you close to me. To prove you existed.
i wonder if i will ever stop counting. the days and weeks and months and years since the miscarriage, the due date, the scan. will i ever stop counting how old you would be if you made it to my arms? if counting your age is the only honour i can give you, i will do it forever.
I'll be there 👼🏽
Daddy, please don't look so sad,
mama please don't cry
Cause I am in the arms of Allah
and He sings me lullabies.
Please, try not to question God,
Don't think he is unkind
Don't think He sent me to you,
and then He changed his mind.
You see, I am a special child,
and I'm needed up above
I'm the special gift you gave Him,
the product of your love,
I'll always be there with you
and watch the sky at night,
Find the brightest star that's gleaming
That's my halo's brilliant light.
You'll see me in the morning frost.
that mists your window pane,
Thats me in the summer showers
I'll be dancing in the rain.
When you feel a little breeze
from a gentle wind that blows
That's me I'll be there,
planting a kiss on your nose.
When you see a child playing.
and your heart feels a little tug.
That's me I'll be there giving your heart a hug
So Daddy. please don't look so sad, Mama don't you cry.
I'm in the arms of Allah and He sings me lullabies.
Happy International Women’s Day
1 out of 4 women experience pregnancy loss.
1% experience recurrent miscarriages.
I fall under these. I’ve made artworks for each losses.
Many women suffer in silence from such a traumatic event.
You are not alone. Break the stigma.
Spread the word.
Remember us.
Pregnancy loss isn’t “oversharing”. We’ve lost a part of us and family. Such a traumatic event in our lives that other people could share about their loved ones dying.
Our babies died, too. They’re valid to us. 💖💖
Let’s stop shaming women for sharing their stories.
This is what a missed miscarriage looks like. Why do we grieve in private and why do I feel so shameful for speaking about the baby I lost? So many women & couples go through this. We heal by talking about it and feeling COMFORTABLE when we do. I went to my 10 week ultrasound & baby had no cardiac activity, stopped growing close to 7 weeks. I had absolutely no idea anything was wrong. I never got to share my ultrasound pictures. I couldn't even hold the picture when my doctor handed it to me. I had a D&C two days later. I swear to God my world stopped that day. Reach out to people going through pregnancy loss...really reach out.
After a year of TTC with unexplained infertility we finally got pregnant. I'm 12 weeks, but we found out that the baby only measures 9 weeks and the heart stopped beating. I had a missed miscarriage.
Today I go for my D&C and I'm so scared and broken.
We had just announced our pregnancy the morning before my bleeding started.
Back to square one once they tell us we can start trying again, but we decided not to take anything and just take it as it goes. We need to heal from this loss first.
I can't believe this is where we are now. I'm so broken.
Just a small cry tonight. Thinking about what could have been and never will be.
