☄️ Missing Nin AU- Midnight Mitigation ☄️

Original from June of 2022. (Kinda proud of my improvement. It's nothing crazy, but, y'know- pretty cool!)

Adding more to the Missing Nin AU. If anyone has any suggestions for other things within this au (or anything Naruto related period) please let me know I'm running out of STEAM-

“  you deserve good things.  ” from kakashi for iruka!

iruka is deliriously happy. it feels like this can't possibly be right for a pair of missing nin ( not naruto. he must have told kakashi a hundred times; if they’re ever caught, he’ll insist that they’ve kidnapped the boy. anything to spare him the consequences of iruka’s own actions ). they’ve disappeared, so seamlessly, into a life as a young civilian family, in a civilian village hundreds of miles from the leaf. and iruka has embraced it so completely that some days he swears he’d never been a shinobi at all. he still teaches, and it feels so much lighter, knowing he isn’t preparing them to fight for their lives. he delivers classes on reading and writing and mathematics and his students actually play during their breaks; the luxuries of a normal childhood. its wonderful to watch, fills his heart until it almost bursts.

their home is happy and bright. kakashi is making dinner while iruka sits at the counter, idly marking tests ( so much has changed, but somethings will always remain; the amount of grading a teacher does, for one ). kakashi passes by him to fetch something from the cupboard and presses a kiss to his temple, and iruka smiles. no mask to hide his lips, the action is so easy it makes iruka’s heart swell.

“this is like a dream. it’s all too good to be true.” he’s still convincing himself, touches the gold wedding band to remind him. a gift from kakashi, to fit in with the other couples in the village but also, to mark this new life of theirs and a future that feels guaranteed ( don’t get ahead of yourself, iruka. there is still danger, but he’s just so hopeful ).

you deserve good things. kakashi answers like its the simplest thing in the world. to iruka, its a revelation. he cries at the counter in this, their home, and his tears are the happiest thing.

Successfully made my version of MissingNin! Kakashi so yay

Here’s how it goes:

Everything up to Obito being crushed under a boulder is the same.

Kakashi is the one who turns into the three tails Jinchuuriki, not Rin.

Kakashi tells Rin that he’s a Jinchuuriki.

Rin faints after that (She doesn’t remember when she wakes up).

Kakashi does not end up killing himself, but he does run away.

Obito arrives after Kakashi runs away, and Rin and Obito reunite and it’s very sad.

When they get back, everyone gives Obito weird looks ‘cause the thought he was dead. Minato is glad he isn’t, and cries of joy.

Since neither Rin or Obito saw Kakashi leave, they assume he’s dead, and tell that to Minato and Kushina.

This devastates Minato

Fast forward, Kakashi is 17, and Rin and Obito are 18.

A week long festival happens to honor those who lost their lives fighting for the war, and that’s when Kakashi visits the village.

He usually vibes on a cliff, watching everyone with a sad smile.

Obito see’s someone on a cliff, and assumes the worse.

He goes up there as fast as he can, and see’s Kakashi, but doesn’t recognize him because he isn’t wearing his mask™.

He tries to talk to him but Kakashi panics.

While panicking he nearly slips but Obito catches him.

That’s when he recognize him, with the silver hair and the black colored eye (his other eye has the sharingan, and is covered).

He immediately hugs him after he successfully gets him to a safer distance.

Cue sad stuff which I will hopefully write in the future.

Obito takes him back to Konoha but Kakashi is very, very, hesitant (he has a demon sealed in him and no one knows, obviously he’s hesitant).

Rin and Minato are very mad at Kakashi who faked his death but realize he didn’t because they never did see a body similar to his.

After Rin and Obito go back to their homes (they both live in their own clans respectively) Kakashi tells Minato why he ran away in the first place

Minato is shooketh and has a face that’s a fusion between these two (2): 👁👄👁 ⭕️👄⭕️

Kakashi just awkwardly laughs.

The rest of this AU is a work-in-progress

And some extra stuff that fills in some little things.

Kakashi doesn’t/didnt wear his mask while he went off the raider because no one would recognize him.

Because Rin didn’t get Chidori’d away, and since Obito didn’t witness it, he doesn’t help Madara and they avoid the fourth great ninja war.

And since he didn’t see that, Obito never lets Kurama out, so Minato and Kushina are alive.

Kakashi keeps his team picture with the smoke bomb because he feels like he would damage it if it was with the Kunai and Shuriken.

Instead of Obito or Kakashi, Rin ends up as team 7’s Sensei.

Minato trusted her enough to assign her with his son.

But that happens way into the future.

Kakashi and Isobu (3 tails) made a deal that instead of being released, he takes over Kakashi’s body for 5 days every month.

Kakashi and Isobu talk sometimes.

Kushina is surprisingly the last to know that he’s a jinchuuriki, because she has a short temper and woul go on a killing spree to whoever did that, even if their dead,

Since I’m trying to keep this as canon as possible, Obito still crushes on Rin, Rin still likes Kakashi, Kakashi is asexual (he gives me that vibe in the anime).

Kakashi lives alone but Minato and Kushina visit him often.

That’s about it so far. I’m planning on writing out the story all the way until the end of Naruto Shippuden, but we’ll see. Feel free to ask questions about this AU!

One didn’t become a missing nin without a healthy dose of paranoia; and his had been full to the brim even before. Fingers raised the waribashi like a senbon, the dull edge aimed at her arm with enough force to stab through flesh and bone–

Only to poke uselessly against her wrist, the uninvited yet familiar action enough to stun light irises to an almost catatonic degree.

“…”

Minato stared at her, unguarded and unaware and entirely raw - Tan digits ghosted over the spot she had flicked, before intertwining with blond locks. For the first time in a long while, he felt…unhinged.

Damn her.

He showed no outward reaction to having registered her words. They came to him in unfinished snippets; because for the life of him that gesture had been akin to a kunai in the gut. Worse, even.

She shouldn’t even be here. A relic from the past - a ghost teasing the fringes of forgotten memories because they simply served as bitter reminders of something he coveted so dearly. Of a time where his generation had been nothing but mere simpletons playing around with ideologies that had been passed down to them; heirs to conflicts not of their own making. The Namikaze swallowed against the bile rising to the back of his throat, as well as the uncomfortable warmth that burned the back of his lids. Cue a slight tilt of the head; a brief moment to recollect his composure as his bangs shadowed unguarded hues.

It was ironic, really. One small gesture was all it took for him to lose his grip on the persona he had gone through pain staking lengths to conceive. His gaze hardened at the thought, akin to the frosted surface of a seemingly frozen pool.

He couldn’t afford to yield.

Blue orbs stared listlessly at the pale, sugar dusted confection; soft pink hues that painted half of the dumpling before receding into creamy white, the surface peppered with miniature flecks of cinnamon powder that glittered like gold dust under the flickering candle flame. It was beautifully crafted, though no amount of appreciation would quell the paranoia that kept him awake at night.

Still…one didn’t exactly take Senju Tsunade’s threats lightly and live to tell the tale. Fear was something the Kiiroi Senkō was unaccustomed to feeling, though even he wasn’t impervious to the trappings of a discarded past that somehow managed to make him bleed anew every fucking time.

Damn her.

“And what exactly do you want to know?” The waribashi was placed on the table, its wooden edges resting against the plate of nerikiri. A faint, humorless smile tugged at his lips, the words just a few degrees less frigid than before, “I’m honored you consider me worth keeping tabs on, Tsunade ane.”

The honorific slipped out before he could stop it. Silence reigned for a brief moment before dull hues resigned themselves to staring a hole through the polished wood, the uncomfortable warmth prickling his lids with renewed vigor, along with what could be considered a faint sliver of regret.

“Summimasen.”

Damn her.

It felt like her heart had almost stopped beating, the moment he'd called her that...’ane’. A hand curled into a fist as emotions surged through her, some too bitter, some unidentifiable. All ruthless in their intensity. Somehow such a simple word was enough to shake her to her core.

It was enough a reason for her mind to turn traitor in mere seconds. To produce the shadow of a brown haired male, standing behind Minato, that ever-present familiar smile, so gentle and sweet, firmly fixed on his lips. Appearing how he ought to have been. Grown and breathing. Alive. Not buried within the embrace of cold harsh earth...

Her eyes closed as she tried to compose herself again, tried to tame the storm of raging emotions within her. Memories, old yet unforgotten chose to savagely rush to the surface of her mind and barely healed wounds started bleeding profusely once again, causing her to unconsciously curl into herself slightly, trying to protect herself from invisible demons.

It took more strength than she had to spare to open her eyes and look at the still alive face before her and not behind him, where the shadow of her failure continued to lurk - blue eyes reflecting some of the same agony that birthed and died within her each day, and it was painful to keep looking at him. She was stubborn though - more so than any human had the right to be, really. Stubborn enough to ignore the ever hardening clutches of insanity that existed within her.

So, instead of allowing herself to be pulled further into the darkness, that was her thoughts, she grabbed a pair of waribashi, and breaking a small piece of the nerikiri, she tilted her head slightly as if contemplating why she'd go this far, before popping it into her mouth, momentarily relishing the sweetness as it overtook the lingering taste of bitterness. She knew a thing or two about paranoia, after all. She'd spent her first few months away from the village, constantly looking over her shoulder. And so, she could give him this leeway.

All the while, she mulled over his question, knowing she'd not get many chances to get answers out of him. This was a tricky slope they were standing on - unstable as they were, wouldn't take all that long to push either over the edge. "Do...you trust me?" it came out as a hesitant whisper, not the mocking tone she had intended. The sound of snapping waribashi was audible in the silent pause that followed her words.

How did it come down to this?

The free laughter of a long lost innocence from a day spend running through the green canopies of hashirama trees lurked in the back of her mind...

💨 Missing Nin - Back On The Run 💨

I have so many drafts saved and I've been meaning to post, but I haven't been able to bring myself to do it. I don't know what it is, but I'm gonna hunker down today damnit.

Anywhooo, I made this for an assignment. My storyboarding class was one of the most excruciating classes I'd ever taken. (Surprisingly). But it gave me an excuse to do a little creative writing for missing Nin once more. So.. yeah! Enjoy!

Missing Nin AU: Designs! (Main Three)

(Best boyfriend in the world did the lineart and coloring of my sketches! Massive thanks to him!!)

I'm so excited to finally show you all the AU I've been working on for the better part of the past two years!

Basically, in this timeline (divergence), Rin survives the chidori to the heart thanks to the chakra of her tailed beast (Isobu) and his ability to heal her from the otherwise fatal wound. (I know this has been done a million times before, but hear me out-)

Obito also stays around long enough to see Kakashi wake, and as Obito berates Kakashi for "killing" Rin, they both pick up on her heartbeat and race to save her, setting their issues aside in the pursuit of potentially saving her.

With this, they find the nearest village (other than Konoha) and force their way in, seeking help. When they're denied, Obito threatens everyone's lives in order to get Rin treatment. And unsurprisingly, it works.

Rin recovers slowly, but once she's okay enough, they all skip town and remain in the forest to get their bearings and avoid being forcefully brought back to Konoha. The three are all flagged as Missing Konoha Nin. (Although Obito is technically left as unidentified since he was pronounced dead years back-)

And through the years, they become notorious wanted criminals in the bingo book. Rin is forced to stay under Obito's protection as going to Konoha would cause her to not only die (As far as she knows) but to destroy her home as well. Kakashi stays as he feels indebted to Obito as much as he may disagree with his perspective at times. And Obito leads them all, instilled with Madara's ideology and the want for a better world. But this time, he's doing it entirely his way.

They also pick up some other nin in need along the way, but they come later, so I'm gonna hold off on information for a bit when it comes to them.

As for Minato and Kushina, they eventually figure out who each of them are and are absolutely devastated that all three of them would turn against their own village. They pursue them when they can and as often as they can, but they can never truly catch up.

TLDR: Rin barely lives through getting a Chidori through the heart, so Kakashi and Obito band together to save her. They do and then run off into the woods to work things out. The three of them become missing nin before eventually ending up in the bingo book.

OKAY ENOUGH RAMBLING. (Honestly if you read all of that, thank you. It means the world to me!!) I hope everyone enjoys it, though! I had so much fun designing!!

Neglect..

Neglected... TO POST THIS HOLY SHIT.

Sorry I've been super inactive, life has repeatedly kicked me in the ass, and more than half of those times, it was really me kicking my own ass. BUT I'm here now with some more Missing Nin content. It isn't a whole lot, just a little sketch I did to get back into the swing of things, but I've noticed that people as of late have been kinda drawn to this au, so I thought it'd fuel the fire a little. I hope you guys enjoy!!

(What? Obito manipulating Rin so that she believes that Minato and Kushina don't have her and the villages' best interest in mind? So that Obito can play the knight in shining armor? Yeah, this will go over well..)

I finally got posca markers, and I wanted to test them out not realizing that using them on normal paper would absolutely destroy the paper I was using. So I'm not really happy with how the whole thing turned out. So.. have a couple of pictures I took of my Obito figure.
