Does it bug anybody else that Supernatural Season 1 isn't subtitled?
You know, I have a hard time watching season 1 of Supernatural because our DVDs don't have a subtitle option.
I'm not deaf, but I can be hard-of-hearing. Having the subtitles on helps me to follow the action when I'm watching a show. Many movie theaters offer you a device that you can plant in your cup holder, which "subtitles" the movie you're watching. I get one of those when I go to the movies because it helps me keep up with what's happening, and to follow what's being said.
Now, me being a hearing woman, this is a convenience, but what about those who are deaf or hard-of-hearing on a greater scale than I am?
I know that the subsequent seasons all provide English subtitles, but there's something irritating about the first season not providing them. This is the introduction to the whole shebang - the season that made me fall in love with Dean and Sam Winchester.
I'm very sad that Warner Bros. didn't release the first season with subtitles.
Unless, of course, they re-released the season and added subtitles later on. We purchased our copies of the season 1 disks sometime between the airing of season 5 and season 7 (I don't recall the exact time that we bought the series - my cousin wasn't living with me at the time because my dad was alive, and she was the one who first started purchasing the series).
Does anybody know if they've re-released the DVDs with subtitles?
If not, I think we should complain. It's a disservice to people who need them not to have them available.
Check out your own copies of season 1 and see if they offer subtitles in English for the deaf or hard-of-hearing, and let me know if Warner Bros. corrected this problem!
