@missingeyes asked for a pet-play starter, and so a pet-play starter, they shall get...
it wasn't often that barton had someone with a notable amount of fame come into his clinic, but if he was being honest... it didn't matter to him whether 2D was a household name or not whenever she was his patient; and this was through a time in which it seemed stuart had pushed herself too hard at a show, as she had collapsed from exhaustion and as a result, she ended up at the closest clinic to her on that fateful day — which just-so-happened to be his own. it was after he examined her then that he determined she was going through severe burnout, and should get some rest (doctor's orders). barton had a feeling, however, that stu would maybe try to brush off his instructions to get along with her job as a rockstar and so he prescribed her some time to recover at his clinic.
a week, he determined, which stuart could exercise her right to discharge herself against medical advice at anytime if she wanted to as per her rights but barton was hoping that she would take this seriously rather than do that. it was through that next week, then, that barton brought around things to her room during breaks sometimes to make her feel less alone and also less bored the next five days. they got to know each other pretty well during barton's visits to make sure that she was recovering okay, actually, he thought and he found himself even looing forward to stopping by her room at one point. stuart was, for all extents and purposes, really quite easy to talk to and whenever it came down to it? barton found her likeable, to say the least, as he thought he could recall her telling him jokes and maybe not being the most eager to subject herself to vitals whenever barton stopped in but... well, she was nice enough during it.
it was after those five days that stuart appeared to want to sign herself out AMA and, honestly, barton couldn't blame her. he was just glad that he was able to give her an opportunity to rest, because when she came in, her blood pressure was high and her anxiety also looked to be up there with it. barton had wished her well on the way out and, for a while, he hadn't seen her afterwards. it was a few months later that he found himself seeing stuart again due to an injury she sustained to her hand while on tour and she came to him to avoid the press. barton saw her after-hours at his clinic soon enough and patched up her hand, keeping things professional. though at the end of the appointment, he had to ask her 'are you sleeping?' due to the distinct presence of circles under her eyes, and she answers the way she does, but barton let her know then that his card was the same if she should need it.
he wasn't sure if he was just imagining it at that time following him saying that, but he thought he could feel some tension between them, and then barton said that stuart should 'probably go' because of how his daughter would likely go straight back to teasing him about the other if she found out stu was there again; as he had, in effect, been caught looking up the current gorillaz tour by matilda (his daughter) and thus thinking about the other because despite it being maybe unprofessional? he liked her. so, it was from there that barton said it would probably be a good idea to schedule a follow-up with another doctor, and after stuart did it right then and there... the claim 'i'm not your patient anymore' did seem to give off vibes that the other perhaps liked him back. and i suppose, as they say, the rest is history.
barton was kissing stuart the minute that they stepped through his front door, his lips moving wildly against hers, and its whenever they get to his bed that things became a little more intense. ❝ mm... if i want to take care of you tonight the way you deserve to be, will you let me? ❞ the doctor had pulled away from 2D to ask her this at this point, slipping a hand into a nearby cabinet to pick up a collar he had in it just for her, waiting for her answer to whether she would welcome pet-play being brought into this or not.
