//Sorry about that! I didn't think Salem would startle anyone. 8V
[Text]: Oh. Wow, sorry for the capslock.
[Text]: Don't worry about it. I do hope you won't cut anyone's head off, though.
[Text]: SAMMY I SWEAR TO GOD COME HOME RIGHT NOW OR I WILL CUT YOUR HEAD OFF
It wasn't so much that the text from an unknown number surprised him. The intensity of the words were what caught him off guard. Whoever this 'Sammy' was, Jamie wouldn't want to be him.
[Text:] Not Sammy. Think you've got the wrong number, sorry.
Friends Prelude ((missjamiebennett))
"Where have you been, Jade?"
The voice has always been a comfort to her, but of late she had been a lot more worrying to hear it, each time she does she is worried he will catch on, he will realise where she is disappearing every night, the lack of fear in the places she goes, and how tired she has become. Perhaps now he has, and this is what his ominous call is heralding.
Children were not for conversation, not for friends, they were for nightmares. Jamie was meant to be for such, Jade was meant to give Jamie a nightmare and disappear as quietly as she came, but no, they had been awake that late at night and Jade had let herself be drawn into conversation… And now the voice of her King had become a warning call for the inevitable storm.
"Spreading fear, my King,” she answers, keeping her voice as firm and strong as she can.
"Really...?" He steps from the shadows, cupping her chin in his cold grey hand with a firm line where his smile should be. "That's not what my fearlings say, dear Jade."
His second hand reaches out, fast as a viper, and plucks the book she so tightly held from her grasp. "This isn't from our library," he states, looking down at the princess, who shrinks under his glare.
"I borrowed it," She murmurs. As weak an excuse as that is, it was all she had… she couldn’t lie to her King, and that was as distant from an outright confession that she could manage.
"From whom?" he smiles, it is gentle and fatherly and Jade looks up at her King.
"You'll be mad,” she says quietly.
His smile doesn’t fade, "no I won't."
"Promise?"
He tilts her head up to make sure she meets his gaze when he continues. "Promise."
She takes a deep breath before letting it out. "Jamie."
A long pause; and Pitch closes his eyes for a moment.
"I see."
Jade pouts, "you're mad at me-” she starts, but then something even more important comes to the forefront of her mind. “Y-you won’t hurt Jamie will you?!"
"No, I won’t hurt dear Jamie…” Pitch says slowly, a small smile on his lips before he looks down at Jade again, the smile fading. “And no, I'm not mad at you Jade... just... disappointed."
"That's even worse!" Jade cries, eyes wide as she stares up at her King. "I've disappointed you! After everything you've done for me!"
Pitch brushes her hair back. "Shh..." he soothes. "What exactly were you doing there?"
"I was curious,” she mumbles, “you just... You hate them so much I wanted to see why," Jade explains, "I was even going to scare them, make you proud- but then they were so... Nice to me... So kind, even after I tried to spook them."
"You befriended them?" Pitch demands, seeing the end of the story.
"I'm sorry-"
"No... This is perfect." Pitch smiles, as if at some inside joke, and passes the princess her book.
"Pardon, my King?" Jade manages, clutching the book like a lifeline.
"Do not worry, dear." He draws back, slipping back into the shadows. "Just be wary of who you befriend."
Friends ((missjamiebennett))
The darkness is a little comfort, shadowy tendrils eagerly holding the princess in a soft embrace, promising the comfort it could never truly deliver. Jade, the darkling princess, was under Jamie Bennett's bed, which wasn't all that unusual seeing as her King was Pitch Black. What was unusual, was the time of day. The sun was bright and painful as it streamed through the ever-open window and Jade hated it. But the thought of leaving and missing the chance to see Jamie when she so desperately needed it was far more painful an option.
