          Rachel felt like she was being hit by the speeding train that she had gotten off of nearly an hour ago. Clutching her stomach, she runs from the room, her mentor, fellow tribute, and escort calling after her. Nearly running into the wall of the elevator, Rachel slams her hand against the button for the roof. Maybe it was reality weighing down on her. That this wasn’t just some terrible dream that she would wake up from in a bit. She didn’t know, all she knew was that she needed to get out of  there. She needed to get away from all of it and just look at the sky, or something else. Something real. The moment the elevator door opened, she threw herself out into the cool night air, letting it fill her lungs as she ran to the edge of the roof. There was a fence surrounding it, but other than that, it was an open space, there was no electromagnetic field surrounding it, meaning that no one had tried.  A look of realization washed over her face as she stared down at the street below. Her hands squeezed the edge of the stone of one of the bricks. She could free herself, escape days, weeks, maybe even months of pain by jumping off of the roof tonight. Her eyes were blank, they didn’t even move from where they were focused, down, thirteen stories below, when she realized she wasn’t alone on the roof. She did freeze though, as if waiting for the other person to stop her.

I've been training for this my entire life Terrance repeated to himself for what must have been the 50th time that day, but it still felt like he was lying to himself. Was he really ready for this? How could he be the only teenager in the whole of District 2 that didn't want to be reaped? It just all didn't make sense to him.

With all these thoughts clouding around his mind, he needed to get out and clear his head, and his first thought was the roof. No one would be there so it was perfect to just sit and relax and watch the stars, which he hardly got to do back in his own District.

Once he managed to get through the crowds of people and to the roof, he saw that he wouldn't be alone, a blonde haired girl was stood by the edge of the roof and he slowly made his way over to her.

"That's not as good an idea as you think it is." he said softly, putting his hands in his pockets, watching her.
