Mei Terumi メイ Moodboard
Personal post time!!! :D
I mean, we all had a period of time where we made our own OC’s from Naruto, amirite? So here’s mine.. and I kind of use her to keep track of my improvement process. I have her from 2004, 2006, and most recently drawn in 2017 in July (that’s 13 years!). I wasn’t going to share this, as probably no one cares about my OC and she doesn’t serve any sort of purpose other than to track my improvement anyways. But hey, a milestone is a milestone. She will never be developed further, etc. She’s a Mist ninja, her name is Amaya Bankiri (now, she went through a few name changes, see the captions). And that’s about all I’m sharing haha.
I can safely say that my anatomy and coloring have improved. I also like her current color scheme better also. I still have such a long way to go... I really loved Haku as a character, and still do, so her design is a bit similar to his, in the original drawing in 2004 anyways and then kinda took a life of its own haha. I want to draw Haku again soon. :) And I’ll probably draw her again in another couple of years and see where my art has gone. I still do think that for as long as I’ve been drawing... and with that 13 years difference, I have not improved as much as I should have u_u; It just makes me feel really old haha.

I had an art trade on an amino to draw my friend’s Hozuki oc
Zabuza: Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Don't teach a man to fish and you feed yourself.
Zabuza: He's a grown man. Fishing's not that hard.
If you're still doing character break downs, Suigetsu?
GIVE ME A CHARACTER;
and I’ll break their ass down (Sorry it’s so late):
How I feel about this character
Starting out, I genuinely hated Suigetsu. Looking back, I can’t entirely explain why. I think at the time I thought he was a cheap attempt to work the memory of Zabuza back into the story and I was just kind of ambivalent towards new characters in general. I wanted to see more of Zabuza and the Sound Four, I got Team Hebi instead. But seeing them all work together to save Sasuke’s ass from writing a check it couldn’t cash, Suigetsu and the other two finally won me over.
I like Suigetsu now. He’s got a cool clan, I like his sleazy personality, Naruto can stand to have a few more dumbass characters.
That being said, I’m incredibly disappointed that he was never really given a chance to develop or BE a greater character than the sleazy dumbass. In fact I’m kind of angry about it.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Suigetsu/Sasuke, Suigetsu/Karin, Suigetsu/Jugo, baby. I’m all about that Taka quartet. and I think they are too
My non-romantic OTP for this character
Baby Suigetsu and all the swordsmen with the whole mentoring thing. Him and Choujuro as antagonistic allies/childhood friends
My unpopular opinion about this character
What the fuck up is with his water gun technique? How did the gun imagery come into being in the Naruto setting? Has that ever been explained????
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
Character development. And not just ‘jk I care about you guys after all!’ that barely counts. Suigetsu is a product of his environment. Even though he wasn’t born during the Bloody Mist, he was raised by those who were and it shows. He should be having trouble coming to terms with a new age of peace.
