I know it's early for New Year's fic recs, but this is a MY rec countdown, so… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And what is New Year's Eve if not "a chaos of writhing, groaning, hedonism"? That's definitely how NYE goes for Holmes and Watson in this steamy-yet-cozy PWP. This fic has all of the things I love about mistyzeo's writing: period details, these two dork beings stupidly in love, and--OF COURSE--delicious Victorian smut. (Speaking of which: have you read Compound a Felony? No? Go buy Compound a Felony! It's brilliant, it supports this brilliant author, and it might make a good gift for any nerdy/kinky folks in your life.)

Hello! I was wondering if you or any of your followers have read With Benefits!Verse by mistyzeo featuring hate sex? is it bottom Jared or is there switching? I've heard great things about this verse but I just want to confirm this before delving into it. Thanks xx

Hi there:

The With Benefits!verse on Ao3 does mix it up. The first two are bottom!Jared, the 3rd is first time top!Jared. Parts 4-6 aren’t explicit. 7 and 8 are handjobs/ masturbation. 9 is Jared rimming Jensen like whoa, 10 isn’t explicit, and the last installment is bottom!Jared again.

I don’t think I missed any bottom!Jensen, but it has been a while since I’ve read the series, so chime in in the notes if I did and help out this Anon. :)

Rec: Set in an alternate universe in which same-sex marriage has been legalized, Holmes and Watson drunkenly marry, but in the aftermath, each man thinks they did it for different reasons. What follows is a fun bit of pining and misunderstandings until the inevitable happy conclusion. I really enjoyed seeing this popular trope brought to this canon universe, as it gave the characters a chance to interact openly without the usual legal oppression and societal disapproval. A very fresh and entertaining take on a gold standard.
