5 Things About Captain Everest Ballafonte

Wow I took a while to post this. Back to this meme.

Eve was very into the the club/rave scene when she was a teenager. She eventually grew out of it, maturing somewhat with her military career, but she was a very wild child.

Eve used to have an east london accent, but hid it by affecting a posh accent to better match the stereotype of the model British airman for so long that she just sort of defaults to it now. She sometimes slips back into her rougher speaking patterns

Eve's favourite drink is tequila. Specifically the cheap knock off tequila she used to buy from the corner market with her buddies with a fake id. It's not very good, but she has good memories attached to it. That might be why she's rationalized Weekend at Burnie's as an enjoyable movie too.

Angelika is the first woman Eve's actually considered her girlfriend. She had a few one night stands with women back on earth, and at least one drunken three way, but actually being romantically linked to a woman is new to her.

Since Angelika's departure from the ship, Eve has sort of taken it upon herself to work more closely with Herschel to look after the emotional needs of the crew. She butted heads with her enough times in the past regarding this sort of thing, so she thinks she can guess what she'd do.

1) List them in order of how good their hugs are.

Carmine, Eve, Turk, El Tempesta, Flintlock

2) Why are the last person’s hugs the worst?

Flintlock is an aging dwarf who, despite being spry for his age, still winds up hugging waist height on most people. Also his joints crack while doing so.

3) Why are the first person’s hugs the best?

Carmine is fluffy and feathery and full of sincere hugs. It’s like hugging a down-filled pillow.

4) List them in order of how bad their bedhead is.

Carmine, El Tempesta, Eve, Flintlock, Turk

5) For the person with the worst bedhead, how long does it take them to tame it and how much do they care?

Carmine wakes up with bed-feathers. You ever see a bird preening? He can take like, forty minutes to be ready on an average day.

6) For the person with average bedhead, how long does it take them to tame it and how much do they care?

Eve takes about six seconds to get rid of her bed head. Just long enough to cast prestidigitation. Without magic she needs like, fifteen minutes to wash brush and style.

7) List them in order of who is more of a morning person.

Eve, Carmine, Turk, El Tempesta, Flintlock

8) List them in order of who takes the most coffee/time to wake up in the morning.

Eve, Flintlock, Carmine, El Tempesta, Turk

9) Who spends the most time listening to music?

El Tempesta listens to the most music because he travels with a bard who sometimes plays fight music for him to punch faces to.

10) Who spends the most time pretending not to like pop music?

Eve. She used to be a bit of a raver when she was a teenager, but had to clean up her image when she became an officer.

11) Who owns the most sweaters?

Flintlock owns the most sweaters if we count sweater vests.

12) Who owns the most kitchen appliances?

Flintlock also owns the most kitchen appliances if only because he’s wealthy, because he certainly doesn’t use them all.

13) List them in a random order. Now take person 1 and person 4: What happens if they switch bodies?

El Tempesta, Eve, Turk, Carmine, Flintlock

El Tempesta, in Carmine’s body, suddenly is aware of the need to breathe. Despite Carmine’s super-light bird-body El Tempesta feels heavier than he ever has. He’s acutely aware of the physical limitations on his new form as most of the things he took for granted in his old body are suddenly a huge strain. “What do you mean I can’t run up the side of the building? I need to use a bow to shoot that guy? Where’d my energy missiles go?”

Carmine would constantly underestimate the sheer power of El Tempesta’s body. Punching holes in doors when trying to gently knock, crushing things when he picks them up by mistake, etc. He’d also wake up floating sometimes and send himself into a panic. He’d also get sad quickly because he’d know better than to try to play his violin, but he’d miss it dearly.

Oh wait, he’s a cleric, Carmine casts break enchantment to undo the effect as soon as it’s his turn in the initiative order.

14) List them in alphabetical order. Now take person 3 and person 5: What happens if they have to pretend to be married?

Carmine, El Tempesta, Eve, Flintlock, Turk

Eve has to wear ornate courtier’s robes to really sell the act. She hates it. She can barely move in this getup, and she’s pretty sure these clothes went out of fashion a few hundred years ago but he insists.

Turk just sort of inserts anecdotes from his time with Wally into the idle conversation with the people they’re trying to fool. The act falls apart when Turk accidentally keeps calling Eve “he” in his stories, and she keeps punching him in the arm for it.

15) List them in order of most desire to pursue a college education to least.

Turk, Carmine, Flintlock, Eve, El Tempesta

16) Give your characters one wish each. What do they wish for?

Turk - For Dulcemer to understand what he’s doing

Carmine - For safety for his people

Flintlock - To make lasting change and not just be tilting at windmills

Eve - To ensure the safety of her crew

El Tempesta - To be fast enough to stop whatever threatens his friends

17) Your characters can save one person from anything that is happening or has happened to them. Who do they save?

Turk - He’s already saved the person he cares about the most from death. Maybe the President because she was a voice of reason in a sea of political stupid.

Carmine - He’d save whatever world-spirit-entity it was from being merged with Jack’s personality. That poor world-spirit-entity-thing.

Flintlock - He’d save… Cayenne and Clove from their weird situation? They’re sort of one person.

Eve - She’d save Isaacher from possibly needing to die on that alternate Earth

El Tempesta - He’d save Barnabas from losing his arm and getting that evil eel thing to replace it.

18) List your characters from most cooking skill to least.

Carmine, Flintlock, El Tempesta, Eve, Turk

19) List your characters from most likely to shave a friend’s head as a prank to least.

Turk, Eve, El Tempesta, Flintlock, Carmine (though they’re all reeeeally unlikely to do so)

20) List your characters from most likely to accidentally throw something when scared during a movie to least.

Carmine, Flintlock, Eve, El Tempesta, Turk. Turk is literally immune to fear. He is technically braver than El Tempesta, the man who leaps into explosions and comes out holding babies.
