Maligayang Araw ni #JoseRizal 🇵🇭 José Protasio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda (June 19, 1861 - December 30, 1896) is the national hero of the Philippines. He was a polymath, an opthalmologist, as well as a writer (the Spanish colonial empire executed him for sedition for writing his books 'Noli Me Tangere' and 'El Filibusterismo") and an artist. 🎩 Image (1) is a portrait of Rizal by Felix Gonzalez which hangs in the National Art Gallery of the Philippines, along with (2) a sketch by Rizal of #Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin where he lived for a time and (3) a sculpture Rizal titled "Mother's Revenge" 🕵 Images 4 to 7 are #screenprints & a poster from my last exhibition, whose title, #MiUltimoAdios, is taken from the poem Rizal wrote on the eve of his execution by firing squad #pinoyartista
