change in pressure // peyton & jace
Anxious-- that's how Jace had felt ever since the newest challenge had been announced. He was never one to delve into his personal life and share his deepest thoughts. In fact, he normally avoided such things at all costs-- not that he has a dark past. To be honest, he was sure that his life seemed pretty simple compared to the others in the house, from what he's heard so far. But, despite all of that, he was still nervous to sit with Peyton and talk. They had never really had any type of serious conversation before. Nothing too serious, anyway, and he wasn't really sure how he'd be able to go about it tonight. And as if all of this wasn't enough to make him antsy, hearing how much thought some of his housemates put into this challenge was.
It hadn't even occurred to Jace that he should take Peyton out on a proper date for the challenge. The boy was so caught up in actually trying to remember that there even was a challenge, it seemed to slip his mind that maybe, just maybe, his girlfriend would actually want to go out and do something special. It was too late to change plans, though, and Jace knew that attempting to plan a date by himself would only result in disaster. So, he hoped that Peyton would be okay with hanging around the house and eating junk food with him for the night. It surely wasn't a romantic rendezvous on the beach or anything, but it was something Jace was more than capable of. He hoped it would be easier this way, too. Easier to open up to each other within the privacy of the house.
Jace made his way throughout the halls, throwing on a loose fitting, white t-shirt as he did so. He had already texted Peyton to join him in the living room whenever she felt like it, so he was unsure of how else to prepare for the night. Cursing himself for not coming up with something more entertaining, he focused on setting up dinner on the table in front of the couch-- 'dinner' being a couple boxes of pizza and assorted bags of chips with some soda and beer placed next to them. He tried to give at least a bit of variety, since he was unsure of what she actually preferred to eat and drink. That should be something he knew by now if he had paid enough attention, but clearly he needed to work on that. Hopefully tonight he could.
After grabbing a bag of potato chips and tearing it open, Jace collapsed onto the large couch, letting out a sigh. This challenge doesn't have to be as serious as it seems, he thought to himself as he anxiously chewed on a chip. They're just hanging out like they would at any other time and it's not like they have to jump right into telling deep secrets or whatever. It can be fun, he continued to reassure himself as he waited for Peyton to join him.
