Project #1 Bath mat with Mixtape yarn. This is the Big Bobbles pattern from Vogue Knitting Stitchionary -Volume 1: Knit & Purl. Using Mixtape yarn makes the pattern look a little different than the green swatch in the book but I LOVE IT!!! This was the sixth stitch pattern I tried - garter, stockinette & linen stitch were all a failure as they produced a fabric with too many holes. After undoing all those stitch patterns, I tried a cluster stitch pattern which worked well and produces a solid fabric but it was quite a laborious pattern to knit. I wanted to enjoy knitting my bath mat so I started over for the 4th time. The blackberry stitch was my 5th attempt it was so cute but again made a fabric with too many holes. If a job is worth doing it's worth doing right, I went through my knitting books and found the Big Bobble pattern on page 158 on the Vogue Knitting Stitchionary - Volume 1: Knit & Purl. Finally, on my 6th attempt, I found the righ pattern for my bath mat. I'm guessing I will use 3 out my 10 rolls of Mixtape yarn on this project. I'm considering the Brioche Honeycomb pattern from the same book (page 153) for my next project with this yarn.
