Hm . Perhaps the unsexiest mildly seasoned cabbage of all time is in fact too much for Mimeng and the narrative makes a whole show of Zhiyin showing him mercy about it and talking about how sensitive he is in indulgent affectionate register and this is kind of played for sexy but the overall "Mimeng is kind of contemptibly pathetic but Zhiyin loves him anyway bc he's just that good" thread is weirdly strong in this scene in a way that is, given the zero stakes, not very parseable. Like you're reading this like OK the author is clearly working through some extremely hyperspecific beef he has with someone that's for sure
