having an actual consistent set of morals in a vibe-based world full of people who say they have a "strong sense of justice" as shorthand for "I get really pissy when I don't get what I want" is kinda exhausting lol
Blank you didn't explain the unfortunate Twitter incident to me either

House of Leaves fans, lend me your theories. How much do you think that the Book is true? This is totally not me taking data.
The thing is deciding whether to situate characters that aren't explicitly trans in discourses about transfemininity, transmasculinity, and/or nonbinarity is literally more complicated than it first appears, especially in the context of narratives about the female or male "impersonator"
Like OK take Mizu because they're a really good encompassing example of specifically what I'm talking abt and also I don't talk much abt Blue Eye Samurai so there's not the same kind/amount of contextual baggage abt it
The pure literal text we get is that Mizu was ~originally female and sometimes lives as male; in this a transmasculine reading presents itself from the literal stated circumstances if we assume that the framing of his initial gender assignment as diegetic is functionally "Mizu was AFAB", but interpreting it only slightly more allegorically a transfeminine reading presents itself
More specifically: Mizu was raised as a boy for safety reasons and continuing to present male into adulthood. He benefits from the assumption of his maleness, but this benefit is at best fraught and conditional; it is unavoidably complicated by that maleness existing in the context of her original femaleness. In his past, he tried to live by that femaleness, and managed actually to find a real happiness in that femaleness, but the fact of her femaleness was complicated too; the misogynist attitudes and actions of her husband served to prove that despite her happiness in a female role, she would be violently rejected from normative femaleness
Obviously here a nonbinary understanding also presents itself – Mizu cannot reject or uncomplicatedly accept either femaleness or maleness and both are meaningfully part of his identity. I would argue this understanding is actually essential given like everything abt Mizu as a character and the way her duality of identity in gender is inextricable from his duality of identity in ethnic positioning and in morality and that duality is Very Much What The Show Is About. But while a rejection of a transmasculine or transfeminine framing in favor of this is possible and meaningful, nonbinarity is not exclusive of transmasculine or transfeminine discourses, and it's entirely possible to situate Mizu in either or both while keeping this nonbinary understanding in mind
Idk I kind of lost the thread of my greater pt while making this argument but like. Ygwim
fascinated by jeff the killer tbh. everyone in that creepypasta has generic white usamerican names (jeff, keith, barbara, billy, etc.) except for jeff the killer's doe eyed little brother liu. why is he liu. is liu chinese? it's okay if he's chinese. is jeff also chinese? has jeff the killer been chinese this whole time? am I a bad person?

I heart prey animal rage I love when characters are fucking insane with terror
When they're not dangerous like a hunter but dangerous like a spooked horse kicking your skull in
Let's hear it for prey animal rage let's hear it for killing everyone else in the world before you'll let them catch you
I cant think anymore
what can i do to help this time
