Will MK Make Digital Signage?
If you haven't seen this, you must have been stuck on an isolated island somewhere... The MK family of devices is making its way into the main stream, passing safely the early adopters stage. It does exactly what you expect from a tiny dongle! it turns you old (Old? Not sure 2 years can be considered old, but maybe I'm old ...) TV screen into a smart TV! very Smart TV... Android Smart TV!
This device's size is about 3-4 times bigger than a Disk-on-Key and it'll turn you TV into a smart device, like a very large android Tablet. it has built in Wi-Fi, you can download apps, games, browse the web and broadcast content. Broadcast content?!? well this part, in addition to the other capabilities aroused the imagination of the Digital Signage community!
If this device can turn any TV/Screen into a smart Screen, why don't we provide a simple application that will turn this device into a Digital Signage Player, more over ... an Android Based Digital Signage Player!?
The Digital Signage Software vendor will provide an application through the market, given the MK device is connected to the web, the Digital Signage implementer can manage the content using Digital Signage SaaS Platform and broadcast it through web, using the MK smart device as Digital Signage Player on any given screen.
Turning any screen into a smart screen, using a tiny device that cost 60-80 $ is pretty cool, using this Platform to implement high end Digital Signage network, is pretty amazing, don't you think?
In a rapidly changing world, especially in highly technological business like Digital Signage it is very hard, and risky, I might add, to make assumptions about the future, but in this case it is fairly a calculated risk to assume the MK is here to stay! The next phase I would presume is for the MK or similar devices to be embedded as part of the TV itself.
Remember the question in the title? Well, the answer is YES!
